Recently Red Dead Redemption 2 had a big update which amongst other things, added in FidelityX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.0. Sadly, it broke it on Linux and Steam Deck but Valve already have a fix out but you need to pick it manually for now.
Valve updated Proton Experimental with the fix needed to get it working again, showing how they're clearly paying attention to some of the bigger games.
Additionally the September 7th update of Proton Experimental also got these games working:
- Deathsmiles II
- Primal Carnage: Extinction
Note: for Proton Experimental on Desktop Linux, you now need at least Mesa 22 / Nvidia drivers 510.47 or newer. Changelog available here.
Here's a quick run over the changes and a quick-look at Red Dead Redemption 2 running again on Steam Deck:

Played a bit last night, I have to say the game looks really nice with a big performance boost using FSR 2.0, and worked perfectly using Proton Experimental.

Well, experimental attempts to fix RDR2. The game's still practically unplayable unless you only plan on playing the game in 30 minute intervals.

Proton Experimental has also recently fixed my most-played game (1,500 hours): Crossout. Thanks to Steam's efforts Linux gaming is quickly converging on Windows gaming capabilities.

Though it took about four years, it looks like this is the one that finally got Super Bomberman R working as best as it can under Proton complete with FMVs and all (which weren't working for years), in as far as such an unstable port, which I'm told is just as bad on Windows, can be described as "working". (Not to be confused with Super Bomberman R Online, which is a different game that's perfectly stable under Proton. Hopefully the upcoming Super Bomberman R 2 has more common with R Online than with R 1!)
It's progressively improved over the last three Proton Experimental updates, but I think this is as far as a port this poor can get.

What's also fixed:
- Raytracing for nVidia cards in cyberpunk 2077
- EOS/EAC in Insurgency: Sandstorm
No idea, when these two things started to work with experimental, but they do currently not work with 7.0-4. This is awesome!

Quoting: CorbenWhat's also fixed:Nice! Definitely need to make some space for it now... I think Ray Tracing was the only reason I initially installed it in Windows.

Glad I got through it. A nice looker but a disappointment compared to RDR1. Not worth the 80 hours for me.

Quoting: slaapliedjeNice! Definitely need to make some space for it now... I think Ray Tracing was the only reason I initially installed it in Windows. It tanks performance of course, even below 30 FPS. But with DLSS, everything set to ultra, I get back to a decent framerate on 1080p: ~50 FPS (3070 OC, i9 9900).
Honestly though, if I don't pay close attention, I don't really realize a difference in visual quality. The game did look really great for me already without RT.
Before you need to search for the launch parameters:
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command% --launcher-skip
Thanks CDPR for making the launcher skippable.
