Need some classic RPGs in your life? Check out the RPG Legends: Baldur's Gate & Beyond bundle with some great picks. It's quite a small bundle but still a good one if you don't already own the games. As usual, I'll be listing how they run on Steam Deck and Linux desktop either via a Native Linux port or via Proton with the ProtonDB rating.

Included in the bundle are:

Neverwinter Nights: Complete Adventures

  • steam deck verified Steam Deck Unrated (but works)
  • Linux Native

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

  • steam deck verified Steam Deck Playable
  • ProtonDB Gold

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition (+ Siege of Dragonspear + Faces of Good and Evil)

  • steam deck verified Steam Deck Playable
  • Linux Native

Baldur's Gate II : Enhanced Edition

  • steam deck verified Steam Deck Playable
  • Linux Native

Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition

  • steam deck verified Steam Deck Unrated (but works)
  • Linux Native

Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition

+ there's a 25% discount coupon for MythForce (Epic Games).

See the full bundle if interested.

Seriously have to ask... how is it that Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition is verified, but the others that use the same engine are marked as Playable.

Granted, I want to remark the same on some other random stuff I see with that. Like Fantasy Grounds (Classic) is marked Verified, but FGU is marked Playable, even though FGU is native, and less janky (although now with some updates in place, FGC seems to be just as workable).

Awesome bundle though. I already own them all. I really should start playing BG1 after I beat Solasta with my brother.

Well, I encountered a crippling memory leak when trying the Enhanced Edition of Planescape: Torment from my Arch Linux install despite the Enhanced Editions of Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate working just fine. Strangely enough on the exact same hardware no issues occurred when I launched the game from my Rocky Linux partition.

Can anyone recommend some rpgs in this vein that don't use the right joystick like a mouse?

Weird, granted they are on a completely different spectrum of stability.

IIRC they aren't on the same version of the engine, but to double check that, one will most likely have to dig the Beamdog forum.

Did they released the multiplayer tho? I didn't checked in a while.

Good question! I hope so. I believe there is a way with at least BG1 to make it turn based combat, which works much better playing multiplayer than the realtime w/pause.

Played way back with Real Time with pause, doesn't bother me either way. Could already pretty much force full turn based combat with settings.

Yeah, it's playing it multiplayer where the real time with pause could be problematic. Or it is simply more enjoyable in my mind to do turn based combat. Solasta is really a great game for multiplayer, for example.
