Find the new official Steam Deck Docking Station too expensive? Perhaps you might like to take another look at JSAUX, as they've announced another upgraded Docking Station.
Blimey, they need to slow down a bit. I already have their previous normal Docking Stations, which I reviewed and found to be excellent. Plus, I have the Docking Station with an M.2 SSD slot here ready to review (delayed due to sickness on my end).
Now they've launched the Docking Station "HB0702", which brings with it DisplayPort 1.2 so it can more directly compete with Valve.

They did waste time on it, though. A dock model HB0702 with DisplayPort was listed on the JSAUX site (but marked out of stock) when I ordered some other stuff back in August. I've been in contact with them about when the DisplayPort version would return for weeks. Was eventually told it would launch again mid-September, but we got the NVMe one instead.
You can find me and others asking about HB0702 in r/JSAUX on reddit, with varying levels of success. It's been a whole Saga™, and they took too long for me. Ordered the Valve dock the day it was put up for sale.

Just launched, after six weeks of teasing. My point is, they had it ready enough to list and announce, and I would guess supply chain issues meant it got held back, possibly in favor of the NVMe dock with a higher price (and probably higher margin).
Finally launching the dock with DisplayPort right after Valve started taking orders for theirs honestly makes it look like JSAUX had their hand forced. The two products are nearly identical. I wish JSAUX had been more upfront about the timeline for HB0702, as it's now well past the return window for my unopened HB0603 ordered in early August.

I'm not sure what the complaint is though? It's launched now, it's cheaper than the official dock and going by their previous products that I have in my hands - it's good quality. So people had to wait a little bit - so what? :)

it's not cheaper, though.
It does not include a PSU, therefore it's actually the same cost as an official one, but with restricted airflow and a window of availability that is further away than the delivery time of the official dock.
for an aftermarket dock, I prefer a more generic one, that I use with laptop, this gives access to sdcards, and additional display types.

It was $89 + tax for my Valve dock order. Are you outside the US? JSAUX also gives prices in USD, it seems, so make sure you are comparing the same currencies.

Not at all.
The price is way lower.
It does not include a PSU, which might come in handy for some people, but that doesn't change the price. (And many people will be happy with the one included in the Steam Deck, which is the very same.)

To all people comparing the prices. Are you aware you can get the basic version of the JSAUX dock for $38? It's not like you have to get the most expensive one. It's not just cheaper, it's *almost* a third of the price!
Sure, the basic version doesn't come with a display port, only HDMI... But guess what else doesn't have a display port, my living room TV! (and chances are, yours doesn't either). For all practical purposes, any JSAUX dock and the official valve one are identical to me, because guess what: A vast majority of users just want the cheapest USB-c dock shaped in such a way that will hold their console upright while they output HDMI to a TV screen.
And having gone through Valve's RMA process twice (both very bad experiences) since I got my steam deck, I don't consider being "valve official" any advantage when it comes to warranty anymore. But that's of course very sibjective, YMMV.

I also stick with the official dock solution.
1. on the one hand to support Valve directly.
2. but on the other hand also because I'm sure that there will always be firmware updates and support if necessary. With the previous JSAUX docking solution, there have already been problems with the frame rate:

3. the official dock comes with another power supply. So I can leave that connected to the dock all the time, while I can take the power adapter that comes with the Steam Deck with me everywhere without having to unplug it from the dock every time.
I also ordered one yesterday already (99 euros). According to the order 2-4 weeks delivery time.
BTW - for me, the Steam Deck with the docking station will be the replacement for the discontinued Stadia in the living room. Some games that my kids liked to play on Stadia (e.g. Cake Bash) I have already bought new on Steam.
