Here's one from earlier in the month that was missed: Volkswagen Group has now formally pledged funding towards Blender, helping this powerful FOSS software continue improving.
They've joined in as a Corporate Patron, meaning they give the Blender Foundation at least €120K a year. Going by the Donation page, the Blender team currently get just over €190K a month towards development.
In an official update, Volkswagen's Ali Varol, Business Partner Manager - Group IT at Volkswagen AG said:
Volkswagen Group joins the Blender Development Fund!
The VW Group is delighted to support the Blender Foundation as the 1st major Automotive OEM.
We as the VW Group would like to reward the fantastic work of the Blender Community by joining the foundation as a Patron member. This was a wish of our steadily growing Blender user base within the VW Group represented by 12 strong brands.
We are looking forward to a fruitful partnership for both sides.
Congratulations to Blender Community for the 20th anniversary!
They've now joined the likes of AMD, AWS, eGirl Capital, Epic Games, Intel, NetEase Games, Unity and more in helping to fund this open source software.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI can vaguely imagine what Volkswagen might use Blender for, but I do wonder.
Probably advertisements and some graphic design (for advertisements).

While I don't work for VW directly, I do work for a company that does/did R&D work for VW (less now that VW created the subsidiary CARIAD to do more of that in-house). And while I probably shouldn't name specifics, I did see Blender being used in various ways, including for modelling work for simulators.
See more from me
