Windows compatibility layer Wine 7.21 is out now

Another fresh development release of Wine, the Windows compatibility layer has been released. Version 7.21 is out now. This is part of Steam Play Proton, which allows you to play tons of Windows games on Steam Deck and Linux desktops. Once a year they make a big new stable release, and eventually Proton updates to it too.

Here's what's changed:

  • OpenGL library converted to PE.
  • Support for multi-architecture PE builds.
  • More preparation work for Vulkan 32-on-64 support.
  • Support for creating import libraries without dlltool.
  • Locale data updates.
  • Various bug fixes.

For bug fixes they noted 25 fixed including issues solved for: StarBurn 13, Visual Studio, Kaseya Live Connect, Euphoria, Darksiders Genesis, The Medium, Hotel Giant 2, Port Royale 2, Gothic 1 and more.

ICYMI: Vulkan-based D3D9, 10 and 11 translation layer DXVK version 2.0 out now.

Oh, that sounds like fun. Maybe there will be performance fixes in time for 8.0 or maybe not.
