Valve has updated Proton Experimental for Steam Deck and Linux desktop with a few quick fixes so here's the usual run over what's new.
The release today gets The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt working again and, while it doesn't say it, this is specifically for the DirectX 12 mode from the new update that previously required Proton Hotfix (now you can just use Experimental). As DirectX 11 already worked.
Additional changes include:
- Improved support for steering wheels.
- Fix regression with Mortal Combat X performance.
- Fix OpenGL launch option for Youropa.
Changelog available here. As a reminder (for desktop), you need Mesa 22 / Nvidia drivers 510.47 or newer for Proton Experimental. Steam Deck is fine.

- Pick a game and head to the little cog icon on the right.
- Click Properties, then Compatibility on the left.
- Make sure the tickbox is done, then select Proton Experimental from the dropdown.
On a Linux desktop:
- Right click a game, go to Properties.
- Compatibility on the left.
- Make sure the tickbox is done, then select Proton Experimental from the dropdown.

I don't know any official documentation unfortunately. In this case, I simply found it mentioned on protondb.
Generally, you can launch the game and figure out if the launcher is a separate exe file. Then you can use the "strings" binary to extract all byte sequences containing human readable characters which likely includes all command line options. You may filter for prefixes such as -, -- or / in order to get a shorter list to work through.
