What is it? Daymare: 1998 is a third-person survival horror with hardcore survival mechanics and hard to kill enemies. It requires a strategical approach to combat and puzzles and offers a multi-character point of view on the story, revealing a deep and obscure lore. You can claim the game until Monday, January 2nd at 2 PM UTC. It doesn't have a Linux version but you can use the likes of Lutris, Bottles or Heroic to grab it and play it easily with the Wine compatibility layer.

No thanks; i rather send my monys to Steam because they have a native Linux client and support Linux in other ways too. Epig (typed correctly) and GOG are out of the question for me until they support Linux in a sound way. Yes.

Naw naw, not complaining really. This is a choice. Steam has Linux native client and Valve advances Linux gaming. Maybe GOG and Epig change next year. Steam Deck is a massive success and so on. But you do you, i do me. Peace

What's better, a forced client as a form of DRM or (playing a free game with) no client?

That's the point: i like to pay Valve and Steam even 3 times for same shit, just because they TRULY advance Linux gaming. I do understand though, that this is kind of an alternative way. I don't want to "support" Epig nor GOG in any way, until they start to support Linux as first class citizen.

I would say that outside of Steam, then GOG and itch.io are fine as alternatives for offering DRM-free games w/ Linux ports. I would not compare GOG to Epic Games at all. I understand where you're coming from, but GOG at least has something going for it. It's not just another Origin/EA App, Ubisoft Connect, etc.

Please note: store wars are not allowed here. I'm keeping the comments up this time, so people are again aware. It is however against our rules to do these drive-by "i'm not interested" comments. It's annoying. No one needs to know you won't buy at a particular store, next time just scroll by. It doesn't add to any healthy discussion.

This trend in the Linux gaming space is extremely off putting. Makes me stay further away for things like Steam since it seems to be causing mental disorders. Any store that sell linux games without a client can get my coin.
