Seems like the upcoming Steam release of The Last of Us Part I should work well on Steam Deck, as not only are Valve already teasing it, the Co-President of developer Naughty Dog talked about it too.

On the Valve side, a keen eye might spot a short clip of it on the official Steam Deck website. Look for a friendly Giraffe, but to help you along it's here:

Showing it off like that, even just as a brief teaser shows Valve clearly have confidence in it which makes me happy. It's still to this day one of my favourite single-player story experiences. If you missed the Steam release announcement, I noted it in my The Game Awards 2022 round-up and there's a lot of good stuff coming.

On top of that, Neil Druckmann the Co-President of Naughty Dog said on Twitter "Ellie and Joel will grace the Steam Deck… don’t worry!". Sounds like it's a first-party port for Windows too (the Steam Deck runs it through Proton), with Naughty Dog doing it directly.

Exciting times!

I'm not very fond of games with zombies (or infected, or whatever), but I think this is amazing news for both the Deck visibility and the future of PC Gaming in general.

I don't usually condone it, but I might go ahead and pre-purchase this one! It was such a damned good game!

A lot of people hate pre-orders and such, but I use it as a helpful form of budgeting so I know I'll have the game at release. I get why people hate it though, there's too many games that stick too many extras in pre-orders to force people to buy early and make their numbers look good.

After playing Red Dead II, I had to give Red Dead a try so purchased an old ps3 - the only console I have ever owned - with a bunch of included games on ebay to satisfy the itch.

One of the bundled games was The Last Of Us, which I started playing having not heard anything about it.

Man! some games just really stick with you and this is definitely one of them.

I'm absolutely loving that Sony is so committed to the PC industry and the Deck these days... even if my wallet isn't. I'll pick up Spiderman in the sale, then this (Last of Us) when it comes. Might do the Morales game in late Q1. They're all quite beefy purchases, but a) they're awesome games, b) they're Deck-verified and c) no DRM (or at least, no deal-breaking Denuvo, from my point of view).

Is this... Linux gaming? Can't say it hasn't been a long time coming, but good grief, it's unrecognisable from where we were just five years ago.

I believe that has some serious showstopper, such as issues on remastering it or issues on setting the multiplayer in place.

And moreover the actual game might not fit the initial expectations, but I don't think this is the case.

I've been out of the loop; so this is very amusing to me; I'll now go & check if PS fans have been rioting in the streets.

(By the way, I briefly owned a PS4; during which period I did play this game. It's a good game, though in its heyday it's had its share of ridiculous hype. One recommendation I might have is to play it on difficult (not the hardest, but one level below that) & turn off 'detective vision' [what did you expect? It's the most fundamental obligation for games to fulfill]; otherwise it might get a bit repetitive.)
