Who can say no to a free game? GOG are giving away the relaxing Haven Park for 27 hours during their freshly launched New Year Sale 2023.
For the giveaway you need to be logged in and scroll down on the GOG Homepage, to find the giveaway banner to claim your copy of the game. It's a bit like A Short Hike, that sort of zen experience but with you doing little mini quests to help rebuild a park. You can claim the game for free before it expires on Monday, at 2PM UTC.
Some lists they have you can look over:
Some good deals they have on popular games:
- Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition (-67%)
- Frostpunk: Game of the Year Edition (-72%)
- Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - Mythic Edition (-70%)
- Warhammer: Chaosbane (-80%)
- Outlast (-85%)
- Project Hospital (-50%)
- Hollow Knight (-50%)
- ELEX II (-50%)
- RimWorld (-20%)
- Heroes of Might and Magic® franchise (-75%).
If you need help managing games on GOG I can easily recommend the likes of Heroic Games Launcher which supports Native Linux games and can manage the Windows compatibility layer Wine to play a ton more on Linux too, so you don't have to miss out on some great titles.

Had this on my wishlist since playing the demo.
Who can say no to a free game? Not me...... I dont even know what the game is but I went to GOG and got it..........
Part of it is the "friction" of leaving the Steam environment (yes, I know you can add them as a non-Steam game), but I have had issues trying some of them out with Heroic, plus GOG's bizarre refusal to release a Linux GOG Galaxy client (especially egregious when they do actually sell native Linux games unlike those reprobates at Epic) sours me on them.
Am I the only one who has every GOG freebie going (over 100 of them now), has Heroic Games Launcher installed on both their Linux desktop and Steam Deck and yet still can't even be bothered installing/playing most of them?Maybe. I use Minigalaxy myself, and sometimes forget the GOG games I own, but I probably play my GOG games to about the same ratio as my Steam games. (Ratio meaning have I ever played it at all.)

I haven't tried the Heroic Games Launcher because it seemed the main focus was Epic games in the beginning, which I ignore. Gotta draw the line somewhere. I don't collect free Epic games because... it's basically digital clutter.
It's got good reviews, but I can't shake just how similar it looks to A Short Hike, which was admittedly great, but I'm not sure I'd want to experience something extremely similar to it.
I like what the first Steam review I stumbled upon says on this:
I read a lot of reviews saying it's a blatant copy of The Short Hike and was wary, but I am happy to report that... it is, but in a good way. For me it doesn't feel like cheap 'steal the idea and make a copy' but more 'I loved Short Hike but wanted some extra elements there, so since I have the skill, I will MAKE my version, which has the bits I want' and it shows.
Looking forward to giving this a try. Probably alone first, and then with the kids. :)
