In the mood for something just a bit different? The End of the Sun is a Slavic-fantasy adventure and you can try it out now. At release it will have Native Linux support and the demo has a Linux version ready too.

About the game: "The End of the Sun is a first-person exploration and adventure story-based game, set in the world of Slavic rites, beliefs and legends. The small village becomes a place of mysterious events, through which the line between myth and reality begins to fade perilously. As the ashter (Slavic sorcerer) who is gifted with the ability to travel in time and knowledge about Navia (the otherworld where human fates shape), following the trail of the unusual fugitive, you come to a mysterious village. Unfortunately, you cannot find anyone there, at least not in a way you expected to. All you can see around are burned hearths."

The developers say you can expect around an hour gameplay from the demo, with English and Polish full audio with 9 languages planned for the full release that will be sometime in Q4 2023.

I was thinking "I swear there's been an article about this game here before." So I checked, and there have been six! We have a first "it's going to be coming" article, behind the scenes development stuff, new teaser, gameplay video, going on kickstarter, and fully funded on kickstarter.

Lotta build-up. I hope it's good.

I almost don't need to look... when I see "Linux native" support I know it's Unity.

It's possible to make some pretty damned good (and decent looking) games with Unity. Rare, but possible :-)

In this case, I hope so, this sounds good and I like that style of game. Going to try the demo tonight.

Nice to see a demo being published before the game release. Looks very good, but - as they also mention in the disclaimer - it still needs some optimization. Framerates, even on low settings, are in the 20s, sometimes scratching 30, @4K for me. But the rest works quite good. Tried it on desktop only, not on the deck.

Does anyone know if there's a notification when you finished everything there's to do in the demo? I'm stuck

after managing to bring the couple together and finding the key on the bench. But I can't find any place to use it or other items / fires where there's something to do.
