AMD has now revealed how much you can expect to be poorer by when picking up one of the new 7000X3D CPUs, along with release dates. The details were announced on Twitter and are:
Available February 28
- Ryzen 9 7950X3D - $699
- Ryzen 9 7900X3D - $599
Available April 6
- Ryzen 7 7800X3D - $449
Good news for those of you with an up to date motherboard too, as AMD continue to mention how it's a drop-in replacement for AM5 motherboards with a BIOS update so no need to go out and buy another board. When it comes to cooling, they recommend at least a 280mm all-in-one liquid cooler for the best performance.

When the released the first X3D CPU, even they couldn't beat it easily. This is pretty much AMD just flexing that they have the best X86 CPUs. They soooo need to try getting into RISC CPUs.

I want to get 7800x3d but they are recommending water cooling and that makes me feel it's gonna under perform with air cooling.

A Noctua NH-D15 has the same performance as a good 280mm AIO.

Sorry your statement is rather confusing. There is not a single CISC processor on the market. AMD went RISC with the K5 which based on the RISC Am29k. The K6 on the RISC86 from Next. K7 had a lot of influences of DEC Alpha. X86 is only a Frontend Instruktion set not a single x86 sold really uses a x86 Backend. AMD could sure trade out the translator for an ARM CPU. They even did some Prototyps but imho canned it shourtly after.

I'm leaning towards avoiding these hybrid CPUs at least for 16 core one. Most likely regular 16 core Ryzen 9 7950X will be better. But benchmarks will be good to see.

The 7950X3D one has v-cache only on one CCD out of 2. So one CCD (8 cores) has higher clocks and less cache and one (other 8 cores) has lower clocks and more cache.

It could be really good for emulation.
But, I don't remember why, but I think I heared that if you build a hardware for x86 even if its not running internally x86 it's optimized and other architectures would run worse.
Or something like this.
