Even more options to upgrade your Steam Deck SSD! The folks at iFixit have begun offering SSDs and upgrade kits.
Nice to see in addition to Framework and Scan UK, as these smaller SSDs have been a little difficult to come by. The more that stock them and the more that sell, the more likely they are to spread further and come down in price after a while too.
As for what iFixit are offering they have the Micron 2400 NVMe SSD in 512GB, 1TB and 2TB editions with either their Upgrade Kit or just the SSD by itself. It looks like currently they're only in the US (didn't show up for EU / UK). Pricing goes from $99.99 for just the 512GB SSD up to $304.99 for the 2TB SSD plus the Upgrade Kit so it can be a little on the pricy side still right now.

At the moment I've actually not come too close to filling up the 256GB as it is, but I have been a bit more cautious and so far still only been playing some smaller indie games. I think eventually I'll upgrade to 1TB or 2TB, but think I'd be a tad worried about damaging the deck while doing the upgrade. Interested to see if others will be upgrading it

I use the Deck mainly for smaller Indie games, plus one larger AAA type game at a time. I got the big Deck version so I am not too concerned about drive space yet. I guess it's like back in the olden days when people had to actively decide what games to keep installed. :D

I already updated mine with a 1tb ssd, gullikit joysticks and changed my fan since I got a whining delta one. The deck is amazing and it being linux js the best part, so many changes and customisations that are done easily.

If you put that on uSD, it will take literally over an hour to patch if there is an update to download. It's not the downloading, it's the patching of the full binary :-(. When I bought it, it was just an indie game in pre-alpha stage (somewhere in 2014, 2015?). I still use that world.
The best part of ifixit is that they are all street prices. $303 for a 2TB SSD kit is almost normal for an 2280, and we are talking about 2230...
But yeah, I know what you mean. I am already on age, and I'd rather pay someone else to do it than having to do it myself. For me that's actually cheaper. It's the sole reason I went with the 512GB version.
I did the same with my phone, paid a 250 euro extra not for the camera but for about 400GB of extra ufs. Worth every euro I spent on the extra capacity.

Well… I think having many games installed at the same time actually keeps many people from playing them.
I've bought the 256 GB one since I didn't want to upgrade it at once and it's enough for the moment.

I hope I'll be able to buy just a shielding replacement. My Framework 2TB SSD just arrived the other day and I realized I would have to be very careful to reapply the shield properly.

Nice offering. So far I'm fine with my current 256GB Steam Deck and 256GB SD card. This is a great upgrade option for many of us down the road.

I want to upgrade to 1 TB. But have not seen any in my region (Sweden) that don't cost you an arm and a leg.
