PayPalOne I've been meaning to point out for a while now is Zoom Platform. A games store that tries to appeal to "Generation X" with both new and classic games, DRM-free and they're continuing to build up their Linux support.
They don't have a whole lot available for Linux Native fans right now, with 26 titles currently tagged as supported including Sensible World of Soccer 96-97, Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition, Judge Dredd and more but they're continuing to build it up.
Recently they updated a bunch of Duke Nukem titles that use DOSBox, to work better with both the DOSBox and DOSBox-X flatpaks and over the last few months they've added more titles. Just recently, they also added Linux support for Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, noting on Twitter a goal of theirs is to "support Linux as much as we can".
It's interesting to see a store that tries to appeal to the slightly older generation of gamers. As much as GOG tried to in the past, they've long since moved their focus much more onto modern releases. So perhaps some older readers might want to keep an eye on Zoom Platform.

Is this the first time a store has added Linux support without hordes of us demanding it upfront? Kind of nice, will keep it in mind. And the cheesy Projects/AboutUs pages really remind me of old days :D

Just realized that I'm a Millenial (1984)...I'm a year younger and I just learned the same thing!
Unfortunately, I'm not seeing very much that interests me on this store yet, but of course that might well change in the future. I guess I'll keep an eye on it.

I am glad you brought zoom platform up liam, I was actually going to let you know if you can make an article on them eventually too. Linux fans should support zoom platform since they are drm free and most importantly support linux way more than gog. You can even request different versions of games and they will listen. I strongly suggest linux users that like drm free to support them. Right now their selection might be small but they will be getting a lot more linux native games already confirmed by zoom platform.

Meh. I'm Gen X and there doesn't seem to be much of anything that appeals to me.
A lot of that older stuff just isn't my thing in the first place; I'm much more into the modern indie scene. They can keep their collection of Duke Nukem variants.
They dont only sell old games, they also sell modern indie games.

Something to be aware of is that all transactions on the Zoom Platform are charged in US Dollars, and that you "will be charged for any conversion fees by the payment provider". So foreign buyers beware.

Anyway, I just tried their wrapper for the original Duke Nukem game, and the bundled DOSBox-X failed at first as it could not find libpcap.so.0.8 on my system. A quick symbolic link to libpcap.so.1.10.3 later and I was off to the races. Not going to hold that against them; Arch Linux users are supposed to take this kind of thing on the chin.

Sadly it is closer to pre-war Germany for certain groups who would lose their jobs / livelihoods, because of their religion/ethnicity, etc. It at least hasn't become the 'during war' effect... yet.That's about as ridiculous as the "Z" thing. Ah yes, all those masses of people burned at the stake and tortured to death by cancel culture!I've never been able to take seriously the idea that we should retire a letter of the alphabet because, um, Russia is using it? Like, whatever.
Cancel culture has become today's Inquisition.
The problem is the cultural divide that is happening. People can take only so much being ostracized (which is the correct word for this, but you know that requires schooling to not suck) before there is a stronger movement to fight back.
Doesn't help that we have crappy algorithms in place that help you go down rabbit holes of misinformation (both sides of the coin does this) and flipping back to any sort of sane middle ground is difficult.

Looks good, but doesn't really appeal to me. I'm mostly raised on PS2 so I don't really have any nostalgia for a lot of those old games and the few classics I'm interested in (like Neverwinter Night) is on GOG, along with some of the newer stuff I'm interested in (VNs, particularly AliceSoft) so...

The logo is VERY unfortunate. As is the name, really. Both for different reasons.

Edit: I realise they probably were around before the stupid war, so why should change their logo. Still... it was the first thing that came to mind.

If they can get the native Postal 2 updates sold outside of Steam that would be me saying hallelujah.They do, and in fact, tend to be more up-to-date then gog on that matter.
Also, still in the Postal series, they are the only ones officially packaging original mod versions of known Postal 2 extensions such as Apocalypse Weekend, A very Postal Christmas & Eternal Damnation to quote only those, as well as being the only sellers of Postal 3 currently, after the Akella departure and removal of the game on Steam, due to perpetual licensing and having a DRM-free build.

if we buy those games, those companies will make more games like those? no? so what is the point?
even purchasing used games seems more usefull to me, at least you are giving money to an consumer that might use it to purchase another new game that is still being produced.

* owning the games you love(d)?
* maybe - depending on what they agreed upon decades ago - sending some money to the people having made these games? (This might be unlikely.)
* making those who sell it dig up more treasures from the past? (People keep talking about "abondonware" and how they totally unselfishly rescue these games from vanishing - how about doing the same in a undoubtedly legal way?)
* playing the games?!?

even purchasing used games seems more usefull to me, at least you are giving money to an consumer that might use it to purchase another new game that is still being produced.Too risky! They might use that money for drugs, or worse, mobile games with ads and micro-transactions!

I like that store. I got a bunch of games on there they gave out for free. Most of them are on Windows and I don't Wine so not much for me to play but I did install 'A Boy and His Blob' awhile back and gave it a spin. Not bad but not my cup of tea.
