Need a fresh party game with simple controls and plenty of mini-games to play? Starship Olympics is free, open source and worth a go. They recently released the first Alpha build, which comes with a whole bunch of improvements and overhauls compared to their earlier releases I covered here some time ago. It was originally called SuperStarfighter.

The idea is nice and simple and doesn't need much explaining: in local co-op or against the AI, you play through various mini-games in a different random order each time. The new version offers improved graphics, the overall feel of it should be better and they did some user interface improvement too.

Just a quick tip to try it out, hopefully some readers find it interesting.

Ooh, this looks like it might be my sort of thing, and now I'm kind of surprised that I hadn't heard of it already! Thanks for the heads-up, Liam!

Thanks again Liam for the coverage!

We're now providing more frequent builds of the game with lots of new minigames and changes.

Keep your eyes peeled for what's coming next! :D
