The fourth and final giveaway on GOG during their Spring Sale is for Deep Sky Derelicts, a tactical roguelike RPG set in a grim dystopian future, where mankind has scattered across the galaxy.

As usual, you need to be logged into GOG and then scroll down on the home page to find the giveaway banner. You can claim the game until Monday, April 3rd at 2 PM UTC.

GOG sorted a whole bunch of games into popular and interesting categories to help you find something including:

  • Indies – the best selection of independent titles.
  • RPG's – enjoy the rich storytelling and embark on a great adventure.
  • Classics – evoke nostalgia with a large collection of Good Old Games and classics.
  • Highest Discounts - speaks for itself.
  • Best Sellers - popular stuff.
  • Dungeons and Dragons - a bunch of recent classic additions.

The whole Spring Sale on GOG lasts until Monday, April 3rd at 11PM UTC.

Additionally, GOG have now added more information about recent discounts to game pages. Each game will now list the lowest price it has been in the last 30 days under the current price. An interesting idea, although not a particularly long time to look back for discounts, it at least gives you a small look into how much the game might be discounted in future or at all.

I had a mixed feelings about Darkest Dungeon and ultimately didn't like it for various reasons. I can see why it got so big and why so many Darkest-Dungeon-like games were spawned. This one is somewhat like Darkest Dungeon, but has some interesting twists in the game mechanics department. I started it couple of times and played a couple dozen hours, but never to the end (and I blame GOG for that). Anyway, I can recommend it (especially if it's free) just for the effort it made.

  • Music is catchy and nice. I still remember some of it, after couple of years. Check the intro music

  • Graphic design is memorable, kinda ugly in an artistic and particular way and it's consistent throughout

  • Has tongue in cheek and other ironic or otherwise humorous moments despite the depressing setting (which helps a bit)

  • Has interesting inventory, combat and survival/resource-management mechanics - it's very refreshing to see. Although, I found wanting more depth out of it, but I played on some easy difficulty and maybe that's why. Anyway, I feel that there could be some more cooking and designing done to it in some DLC or the next chapter (if they will decide to do it - I don't know)

  • Quests that challenge your ethics (or not) give a bit of a role-play element

  • Linux Native

I think this game deserves more players.

Deep Sky Derelicts is pretty damn entertaining, a fine deck builder with some cracking squad choices to keep things fresh. It's a slow starter though, so persevere for a couple of hours and you'll be rewarded with some satisfying gameplay.

Amen to that. Though, perhaps not that oddly, the recent Windows 7 Steam announcement will probably get me to revisit a bunch of my GOG games. I still use a laptop with a 32-bit processor that can't upgrade to Windows 10 because of that, so games that were working just fine before will eventually stop working for me on that laptop. Except the GOG versions, which should continue to work fine.

Quoting: GuestBut makes me wonder why you read those news at all when you already know you don't go there. I don't read the articles about games only available on Steam......
I wonder why some people comment under every GOG article that they only care about games on Steam.

And vice versa. I don't buy Steam games.
