Currently in development by Victor Pflug and Wormwood Studios, Hibernaculum looks like an absolute disgusting treat.

Designed and inspired by the dungeon crawling from the likes of Eye of the Beholder & Lands of Lore, with design elements taken from Horror Soft's Elvira & Waxworks series, while also sprinkling in elements of older RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Fallout. Plus, a dose of horror-survival elements more like System Shock and Resident Evil. The whole idea is to give you engrossing labyrinths to explore like the classics full of mystery.

Feature Highlight:

  • Hibernaculum is a first person sci-fi/horror role playing game with survival horror roots.
  • Create a unique character to explore the depths of Hibernaculum & have the experience you want to have. Choices only matter, if they matter to you.
  • Non-linear gameplay allows for exploration at your own pace, and in your own fashion. Forge ahead and risk calamity or riches. Conversely, pace yourself and avoid harm.
  • Navigate decayed industrial Realms through environmental storytelling and a unique, brooding atmosphere.
  • Hibernaculum is being developed in C++ for Windows, Mac & Linux with immediate plans for porting to Steam Deck, iOS & Nintendo Switch.
  • Hibernaculum will initially be available in English, German, French & Spanish.

Damnit Liam! I saw this blurb, went to Steam and was like 'where is it?' As a general rule, I don't back video games on kickstarter. Too many of them sit in development hell and never release. Maybe I should just go play Eye of the Beholder, it just released for the C64/C128 (with dual screen support if you have a C128!)...

When I saw the news image I thought there was a new/remastered Dark Seed.......
This game looks really good...... I dont do Kickstarters but I will certainly keep an eye on it.......

This game looks awesome (in a grotesque, messed up way). Really a shame that it's a KS game, I really hope they reach their goal and actually deliver it according to plan. However when I look at their goal it doesn't seem like something that will keep them financially afloat until the planned release period (late 2025.)

I think the biggest problem with their KS is that they have no demo and a lack of footage with more action in it.

It is a worry. People having impressive artistic sensibilities does not always mean they have impressive coding abilities, or even that they're good at figuring out a . . . I dunno what you call it in games--plot? Flow? How to have the game move along and get to a conclusion in a satisfying way. Looking cool and creepy is not all it takes to make a game, is what I'm saying, so these people could run into problems later on.

That would be more of a concern if they'd never released a game before. Wormwood Studios made Primordia and Strangeland, a couple of decently popular point-and-click adventures published by Wadjet Eye.
