Japanese developer Odencat just released Meg's Monster, a cute looking short JRPG with a rather interesting twist.
Most games start you off with nothing, weak as a thin stick, but here as the monster Roy you start off pretty much untouchable. However, when Roy does get hit, Meg might get a little upset. Here you're watching out for the "mental damage" to Meg, who doesn't want to see Roy get hurt. Sounds like a really interesting spin on it all.

More about it: "What begins as a relatively simple and heartwarming story about two unlikely friends ultimately expands into something much greater, as Roy and Meg slowly begin to unravel the mysteries surrounding the Underworld and themselves. The result is an emotional journey that, like any good storybook, will remain in your heart for years to come.
Meg's Monster’s retro style and simplicity in presentation quickly unfolds into a challenging, amusing and must-play RPG. The narrative quickly pulls the player into the story whilst at the same time giving a real empathy for the main and central characters. Over 50,000 words of dialogue give a rich and compelling narrative to the many battles that will ensue as you venture forth. Each battle comes with its own unique mechanics and minigames to master as you duke it out while protecting and keeping Meg happy with her favourite toys. Yes, keeping Meg calm and happy is just one underlying factor, and a nice toy will achieve this, but it’s not that simple!"
Out with Native Linux support on Steam.
