Heroic Games Launcher has a brand new release available for helping you manage Epic Games, GOG and more on Steam Deck and Linux desktop. Easily one of my favourite open source projects! It doesn't just help you deal with Epic and GOG though, since you can add anything else into it too.
The main new features in Heroic version 2.7.0 include:
- Auto Install UbisoftConnect when running UbisoftConnect games.
- UI improvements on the GamePage to make it cleaner and organized.
- Library render improvements and download GOG game images in the background.
- Improve
pc/applegamingwikiaccuracy and addgamesdbinfo.- Improvements on Epic Login.
- macOS binaries now are signed with an Apple Developer certificate.
- Translations update.
- Show game logs from the card's context menu.
Numerous bug fixes were also included like a fix for shortcut names, Discord integration, auto-enabling anti-cheat runtimes, properly stop all Wine processes when closing a game and more.

It can also be used on Windows and macOS and even PC Gamer seem to love using it, noting how they're enjoying it on Steam Deck and how it loads so much quicker than the official Epic Games app on Windows too. Nice to see many more people appreciate open source projects like this.

There was another important fix I forgot to put on the Changelog for GOG games that were stuck into an update loop. Some people have it some others doesn't but that should be proper fixed now.

If only games from GOG are used with the client, what's the advantage of Heroic Games over Lutris or Minigalaxy?
Edit: Not trying to create any sort of dispute, just curious to see if worth to make the change.

I haven't used Minigalaxy, but for me Heroic is much easier to use than Lutris and looks nicer.

Nice, time to wait for the double hotfix cycle as usual.
But fr, the Epic login fixes is nice, sometimes it got weird with how it is logged in on the browser but Heroic things you're not logged in. Not too bad, but weird and a hassle.

Heroic supports the gog galaxy cloud saves and achievements, can't remember if it is the case for mini galaxy and lutris.
Lutris is maybe a bit overkill and more complicated just for gog games compared to heroic and mini galaxy.
The best thing to do is try it out and see if it's fits your needs.

There is also the possibility of social functions, playtime tracking and multiplayer for gog games in future releases of heroic.
Haven't seen that in minigalaxy yet.
Heroic works directly with Upstream servers so it uses less resources and is more powerful in the end.
I think this will become more apparent in the future when more platforms are supported like the promised amazon games support

I read a few days ago that this one get bought out by Epic? Is this the first Epic release? Being Epic I'm surprised they didn't remove the GOG feature and integrate EOS

Last I checked (heroic 1.6.2 release I believe) I needed a 32bit prefix and dgvoodoo for Commandos: behind enemy lines.would it be possible to implement dgvoodoo2 and wine 32bit prefixes?Wine is doing 32 over 64 mostly these days, do you still need 32bit dedicated prefixes then?
with a 64bit prefix I couldn't install amstream, devenum, quartz for videos and the game lagged on every move of the trackball.
And I had to use lutris.
It's probably just the game being a bit mangy.
