Remember Duke Nukem Forever? You would be forgiven if you don't. As usual though, modders to the rescue. With the release of the Duke It Out update for the Duke Nukem Forever: Restoration Project. This project has a simple goal: to complete Duke Nukem Forever as it was originally intended back in 2001.
Not a native game of course but this update included lots to be interested about. Lots of performance improvements to the rendering system, along with a note that they're continuing to work on an OpenGL port as well. The update includes HUD upgrades, the single-player was improved, multiplayer gained 9 new maps and so much more.

They even talked about running it on Steam Deck in their news post on Mod DB, as they've streamlined the process a fair bit and there's also now a Steam Input layout just for it.
Nice to see modders work to make something of it.
As someone who owns Duke Nukem Forever: Balls Of Steel Edition......... I will give this a go for sure......
YES!!!!Gosh, I remember going to a video rental store short after it's release. Put it in my PS3, installed, played and was lost on the intro video. Then the initial boss fight was so irritating, I brought the game back the same day and never itched to try it again :D

Funny to see people actually enjoy it.
Balls Of SteelYou remind me of those balls: (careful, before clicking please note that the large images are quite large - they're about 500k each, and could take some time to download on a modem.) https://legacy.3drealms.com/balls/index.html
Great game back then!
"Satirically inspired by the "Balls of Steel" pinball game depicted in Duke Nukem 3D, Balls of Steel is a champion in its own right, combining photo-realistic graphics and state-of-the-art special effects with smooth, utterly absorbing gameplay."

The picture of box notes that it's "pinball on steriods!"Indeed so! I missed it (hint - the word is misspelled on the original box - perhaps, probably even, intentionally ) so thanks for bringing that up! I guess I was flabbergasted enough by the description of the images.
The Balls of steel keep on giving!

Netting only a 69% positivity on Steam

After poking around on YouTube trying to find the documentary which explains why Duke Nukem Forever got Duke totally wrong I stumbled into Serious Duke 3D
Seems like a rabbit hole worth exploring

I really like these kinds of posts and seeing Modders continue the spirit of memorable franchises which are nearly forgotten.
If it shapes up good, I would love to play.
