Modrinth, the open source modding platform that's gaining popularity, has now announced the first Alpha build of their own launcher to make modding easier for Minecraft fans.

There's no need to go dumping your other favourite launcher, it's just another option. Fully open source too just like the rest of Modrinth, focused on providing a good experience for gamers. Even though it's only the first Alpha, it's already looking pretty good and managed to get me into a modded game in no time at all.

With it being in Alpha, it's nowhere near complete so expect some issues and features that haven't made it in yet.

The source is on GitHub and Alpha access available via their Discord. The Linux version is currently an AppImage and does seem to work well. Written in Rust, this is not yet-another Electron thing but instead uses Tauri and Vue.

The question is, does it allow top easily create modpacks?

Because right now, that's massive a nuisance with curseforge. You basically need to run their app, on dotnet, on wine. Which may or may not work, depending on the phase of moon or what the apps devs smoked last night.
