PayPalAnother fantastic update to OpenRazer with version 3.6.0 bringing support for more Razer devices on Linux along with various improvements.
Like many other hardware vendors, Razer do not officially support Linux with their software to tweak things, thankfully the community keeps on giving with OpenRazer. Pairing up OpenRazer with an app like Polychromatic can give you a pretty great experience. Polychromatic actually had a small update recently too with v0.8.1.
With this new OpenRazer release these devices are now supported:
- Razer Laptop Stand Chroma.
- Razer Blade 14 (2022).
- Razer Core X Chroma.
- Razer Basilisk V3 Pro.
- Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro.
- Razer Blade 15 Base (2022).
- Razer HyperPolling Wireless Dongle.
- Razer Pro Click Mini (Receiver).
- Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro TKL (Wired and Wireless).
- Razer Ornata V3 X.
- Razer DeathAdder V2 Lite.
Plus there's these improvements:
- Plenty of cleanup in the daemon around the screensaver suspend/resume functions.
- Prepare for better error handling in the kernel driver.
- daemon: sanity check set_dpi_xy call for AVAILABLE_DPI devices.
- daemon: clean up custom mouse get methods.
- daemon: add effect_methods also for backlight zone.
- pylib: don't init _matrix_dimensions when there's no matrix.
- daemon: throw exception in get_matrix_dims when not available.
- daemon: initialize self.POLL_RATES for all devices with poll rate.
- pylib: deprecate poll rate constants.
- Makefile: remove uninstall targets.
- Makefile: Remove ubuntu_udev_install rule.
- debian: replace python packaging hacks.
- fake driver: ensure daemon cannot create new files.
And these bug fixes:
- Fix volume wheel on Razer DeathStalker V2.
- Fix macro LED not turning off on some devices.
- Fix persistence for lighting on/off state.
- daemon: Add missing methods to some devices.
- daemon: fix Basilisk V2 matrix dimensions.

Just to clarify, OpenRazer is NOT mantained by Razer themselves.
Its convoluted(requires background server), unreliable software, which I suspect is reverse engineered.
Background server is not necessary trivial to set up on non standard distro, like Gentoo for example.
Unless you are migrating from Win to Linux and already have Razer devices - don't think that this software will allow for extra functionality of your Razer devices.
And... IMHO Razer devices are inferior.
Had one broken down on me in less than one year of use.
Libratbag+Piper+Logitech(first check supported models) - is a way to go.
Its convoluted(requires background server), unreliable software, which I suspect is reverse engineered.
Background server is not necessary trivial to set up on non standard distro, like Gentoo for example.
Unless you are migrating from Win to Linux and already have Razer devices - don't think that this software will allow for extra functionality of your Razer devices.

Its for overall people's understanding.
Same goes for libratbag. Its not maintained by any company.(but its MUCH better)
Oh nostalgia, about Roccat mice, where software was developed by a guy who had direct contacts in this once mighty company.

I'd have mixed feelings about going out and buying a new Razer device; agree with drjoms there. Doing so pays for Windows support, increases sale numbers with no tie to Linux, and if I want to support the Linux community, I have to go out of my way and spend MORE, also not visible to Razer.
But if you already have Razer devices, and there are obviously many fans, then community solutions like this are a Godsend.
EDIT: If Razer became a sponsor, it would have a large softening impact on my opinion.
