As a space-nerd, I couldn't miss telling you that you can grab the entire Homeworld Remastered Collection free on Epic Games right now.

Thanks to Wine / Proton, they're all playable on Linux and Steam Deck too. Grabbing games from Epic on Linux is trivial nowadays too thanks to the excellent Heroic Games Launcher (which just had a big update). Homeworld Remastered Collection is rated Steam Deck Unsupport (but it works) but it was rated as Playable previously, and it's also rated Gold on ProtonDB.

Homeworld Remastered Collection also recently had an update to add in cross-platform multiplayer between Steam and Epic so grabbing it free would still enable you to play with friends elsewhere (as it should be!). Grab it free on Epic Games until August 3rd.

You can also grab Severed Steel, an intense single-player FPS featuring a stylish movement system, completely destructible levels, and an acclaimed OST free on Epic Games until August 3rd. Severed Steel is rated Steam Deck Playable and Platinum on ProtonDB.

Just two quick easy recommendations to go and grab for free. Enjoy your gaming!

If you do have a particular Wine / Wine-GE / Proton combination you feel works best with each game in Heroic, or your preferred launcher (perhaps Lutris?) do let readers know in the comments.

Very nice!! I never finished the original homeworld when it first came out. Might be a good chance to try it again!

Same. I remember fondly playing it but at the time I didn't quite understand it. Having it playable on Linux is great!

Those are great games, but they need a mod to work well, specially the first one.

With the steam version it's just needs to install from the workshop, but for the gog version have to do it manually and tweak the launch options. I think it will be the same process. When i get home i will try.

Well the launcher is different and allow to easy load mods and appears to be loaded with the patch 2.3, on gog it's still on patch 2.1 and requires the mod to be fixed... Also if the patch 2.3 it's the same that the mod provides i hope they asked for permission to be included by default since it's part made by the community. Now let's see if this version is also put on gog and steam (Maybe it's already included by i don't own it there).

Edit: it's all ready on steam but i don't know if contains the community patch or not.

Is it compatible with the SDL linux native port? The native Linux port was also ported to WebAssembly and it seems the remastered assets can be added: https://github.com/HomeworldSDL/HomeworldSDL
