The Wandering Village is a wonderful city-builder where you're building on the back of a massive creature. Currently in Early Access, Stray Fawn Studio just released a big watery upgrade. With Native Linux support and a Steam Deck Verified status, it's an easy choice to recommend from my own time spent enjoying the idea.

With the Ocean Update out now it's added a whole new biome to wander through, building upgrades, new decorations, a hostility modifier system, new buildings, new events, new locations and much more. Check out the new trailer below:

They have a lot more planned to add into the game including new biomes, improved villager AI and an improved happiness system, flying merchants to trade with, birds you can tame, more buildings, more events, more locations and the list goes on. Lots of good systems in place they can keep expanding on so I'm keen to see how much more they add in but it's already a really fantastic combination.

Want to win a key? The developer kindly gave two to give away. To enter just leave a comment to say why you wish to win a copy of this game. Giveaway closes 9PM BST, Monday - July 24th.

If you wish to grab it now it's also 25% off on Steam until July 27th.

I like this game for the "humans as symbionts rather than apex predators" aspect; it's a unique reimagining of our place in the world. (But do you play as mutual, commensal, or parasitic symbionts? The choice is up to you… )

I briefly tried out this update when it was on the "testing" branch, but now that it's out I'll have to jump back in. While the original release was fun, I found a relatively easy path to success early on and never encountered much that I had to significantly modify my playstyle for, so hopefully all the added features will spice things up a bit.

I would love to win a copy of this game since when I tried the demo I really enjoyed the fact that the beast has their own needs and desires, which makes an interesting change from the many other base-builder games I've played.

I'd like to win because I like the game concept and I love native Linux games - but most importantly I like the visuals of the game.

The game looks great, Thanks for the chance!

I'd like to win the game as it seems to somewhat resemble Airborne Kingdom, another game I enjoyed, which I got gifted as this is not a genre I usually buy games in.
I've seen the developers cooperate in a giveaway in AK's Discord and them recommending The Wandering Village as a similar experience to their game, it's nice to see cooperation instead of rivalry.

I would like to win a copy since it's on my wishlist for an eternity already but I could never get myself to purchase it. I wish everyone the same luck though. :)

Thanks for reminding me about this game.
Wishlisted, but would still love a key!

I’m a broke college student who can’t afford to spend money on games, so a fee key would be super super nice and I’d just really appreciate it!

Why? For the Onbu of course! I will love him and pet him and squeeze him and name him George. And build a village on top of him and such.
