GOG is back with their Autumn Sale, so here's your chance to get a whole bunch of DRM-free games on the cheap and also free games. So let's take a look.
First up you want to know about free games right? Yeah, I know you do. This time you can grab Hero of the Kingdom II free until Thursday, August 31st at 2 PM UTC. That's only the first, another 3 are planned during the sale so keep checking back for more free goodies.

What GOL does is it replaces the www with af.gog.com which then redirects though the tracker.

I've removed some comments, because they really weren't very nice. Yes we use partner links, we have done for years and there is a statement and link above every article. We will continue using them and that's not up for debate. Any comments arguing on it will be removed without warning. As you were, happy gaming :)

GOG silently added a new method of tracking that is automatically applied if you redeem a freebie. It is hidden behind very slightly different wording and lets them share a unique identifier with advertisers, Google and Facebook, even if you don't have an account with them.
On GOG, under "Subscriptions and communications" (/en/account/settings/subscriptions), there is a new option, "Marketing communications through Trusted Partners’ services". There is a support article regarding this change. Make sure that you untick this if you don't want your data to be treated this way.
Yeah I saw that and was thinking to speak about it too... It's really horrible coming from GOG though.
And to read "Trusted Partners" about "Google ads" and "Meta ads" is a joke seriously... *facepalm*

I'm always wondering about the selection of the recommendations by GOL when it comes to sales.
For example here, the "big deal" of Europa Universalis IV at a 65% off. This is the discount that is given on steam felt every month. If you only look at the last 6 months, it's not even the best discount on GOG (which was a 80% off May 12th to 17th).

I think whether you spend is your decision, but having these displayed on GoG saves a lot of us time of combing through these sites every day. I can certainly say that i never ever open steam and gog stores unless i see something here.
