Here it is, on August 27th the latest work by a great many developers was released with Linus Torvalds announcing the Linux kernel 6.5. From the release announcement:
So nothing particularly odd or scary happened this last week, so there is no excuse to delay the 6.5 release.
I still have this nagging feeling that a lot of people are on vacation and that things have been quiet partly due to that. But this release has been going smoothly, so that's probably just me being paranoid. The biggest patches this last week were literally just to our selftests.
The shortlog below is obviously not the 6.5 release log, it's purely just the last week since rc7.
Anyway, this obviously means that the merge window for 6.6 starts tomorrow. I already have ~20 pull requests pending and ready to go, but before we start the next merge frenzy, please give this final release one last round of testing, ok?
Some of what's included in Linux kernel 6.5:
- Steam Deck fix for AMD Zenbleed.
- Fixes for for ASUS ROG ALLY Audio and Bluetooth support.
- Improved Fan and Sensor support for the AYANEO 2, Geek, OXP Mini, and AOKZOE A1 PRO.
- Rumble support for Xbox Elite Series 2 (model 1797), Xbox One (model 1708) and Xbox Series X (model 1914) controllers.
- Support for the NVIDIA Shield Thunderstrike controller.
- Enable Freesync Video Mode by default.
- More work on Wi-Fi 7.
- ASUS ROG Z13 Keyboard support added.
- A fix for "a really annoying interrupt storm in the AMD driver affecting Asus TUF gaming notebooks".
- + thousands more changes, improvements, new hardware support and it just goes on and on.
Full kernel 6.5 changelog here. As usual Phoronix has a reasonable overview because trying to go through the changelog is an absolute nightmare.

I only have one odd quirk with it though, tbh, which is that `dualsensectl` reports the battery as 100% when it's charging, instead of its actual value. I have to unplug the controller to get a valid result. Hardly a game-changer, but it would be nice to fix.
