Coming soon they say, a fresh big update to No Man's Sky is on the way and they're celebrating 7 years since the release with a new video. Teasing the ECHOES update, the trailer doesn't really give any proper hints as to what it will be, as it's going over the 7 year free update cycle.
This is a true redemption story! At one point the Steam review score hit Overwhelmingly Negative, but now it's looking much better. Although it's still only on Mostly Positive overall right now. But uh, when you see Negative user reviews of "doesn't have fishing" — the score is not always to be trusted without a pinch of salt eh?

Are you excited about another update? I keep telling myself I'm going to jump in and finally go all the way through, as I absolutely love space sci-fi and the many hours I've already spent across previous updates were quite fun.
No Man's Sky is playable on Linux with Proton and it's Steam Deck Verified.
You can buy it on Humble Store and Steam.
But I expect Echoes will not be that at all.
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine
Over the last years I've bought it two additional times, after they redeemed themselves.
Quoting: NezchanI like where they've gone, although I keep holding out hope that they'll overhaul the space stations, alien bases and similar stuff to make all that more immersive. Almost every other aspect has been re-done, it's time that one got some attention.
That would be my primary complaint. The locations to visit and poi's to explore are all the same. I did enjoy the variety in the planets and Flora and fauna, but even that started to get a little samsey after a few stops.
I might give it a go on the deck. That might be fun!
Quoting: Luke_Nukemi love this game. But the static bodies of water is just... weird and unnatural. It makes all the planets that may have a similar composition to earth feel completely lifeless.
Also the fact that rivers don't seem to exist. Oceans are also uniformly shallow, so you can't make a deep water base.
