Valve continue cleaning up regressions with a new Proton Experimental release put up on August 18th, so here's what's been sorted this time.

Changes:

  • Re-enabled NVAPI for Rachet & Clank: Rift Apart after a recent game bugfix.
  • Fixed games crashing when dragging files / images over a game window.
  • Fixed Proton Experimental regression: WHITE ALBUM: Memories like Falling Snow and Forza Horizon 4 are playable again.
  • Fixed a few Proton 8.0 regressions:
    • Makai Kingdom: Reclaimed and Rebound is playable again.

How to change your Proton version:

Steam Deck:

  • Pick a game in your Library and head to the little cog icon on the right.
  • Click Properties, then Compatibility on the left.
  • Make sure the tickbox is done, then select Proton Experimental from the dropdown.

On a Linux desktop:

  • Right click a game, go to Properties.
  • Compatibility on the left.
  • Make sure the tickbox is done, then select Proton Experimental from the dropdown.
