Here's something interesting for you. Valve released a fresh upgrade for the Steam Deck OS now in Beta, including a fix for an upcoming game.
They don't actually name the game, which makes me even more curious. Likely as they don't want to name any third-party games to not cause any issues with the developer / publisher in question. What do we think it is though? Starfield? It's probably Starfield right?
Here's what's changed in Steam Deck OS 3.4.9 Beta:
- Fixed a GPU driver crash with an upcoming game
- Fixed hangs on reboot when switching from upcoming Beta OS releases.
How to get it? You need to opt into the Steam Deck Preview channel. You can change this via the Settings > System > System Update Channel drop-down box and select Preview.
If it is Starfield, they'll likely want this release before the end of the week when the pre-purchase early access for it starts. Guess we'll have to wait and see. It could be anything and there's no hints as to what.
We're still waiting on SteamOS 3.5, which Valve seem to be taking their sweet time on, which recently added a colour temperature setting for the screen.

I don't think so, just checked.
Their "early access" (lowercase) is the idea for pre-purchase customers to start playing the game 5 days early.
Anyway, I think Starfield is not gonna support Steam Deck. It has really high requirements and it would struggle to even achieve stable 30 fps on 720p.
Quoting: hardpenguinHave made it more clear, I of course did not mean Steam Early Access.QuoteIf it is Starfield, they'll likely want this release before the end of the week when the Early Access for it starts. Guess we'll have to wait and see.Starfield releases as Early Access?

Quoting: Liam DaweSay, just noticed--happy, uh, anniversary/birthday-like thing that in your case may just reflect the day you first enabled the feature!Quoting: hardpenguinHave made it more clear, I of course did not mean Steam Early Access.QuoteIf it is Starfield, they'll likely want this release before the end of the week when the Early Access for it starts. Super Mario Brothers (Mario and Luigi the early years)
That's my guess anyway.
