ZEPHON is the upcoming strategy game from Proxy Studios who created Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War and Pandora: First Contact. For a limited time you can check out the first demo for ZEPHON. It has full Native Linux support just like their previous games too!

"Control the survivors of humanity in a near-future apocalypse of alien origin. Pick a path between the indifferent abominations of the Voice and the uncaring automata of ZEPHON, with city management, turn-based tactical combat, unholy research, diplomatic maneuvering, and branching narrative quests. Gather your allies and pick your actions wisely. On the planet Earth, that was once a cradle of life, the extinction of humanity is at hand."

Crazy sci-fi setting with city-building, exploration and combat? Sign me up. I'm very much looking forward to the full release on this one, especially as Proxy Studios actually sent over an early preview build that I had a chance to play with and I came away thoroughly impressed. Although the demo and preview build are rather limited, it's a good slice of what to expect from it. Very similar to their previous games, since it's again another 4x strategy game, but they've turned the production values up a notch on this one and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

If the performance and action of this early build are anything to go by, the full release is going to be awesome. It left my itching all over for more. The full release is due sometime in 2024.

Check out the demo on Steam now.

I just started my first playthrough of Gladius (since I forgot I had it) after seeing this demo and I really can't wait to see what they do with it!

I was having lots of random system stalls. Wanted to see if a different distribution had the same issues. Seems it was mostly a KDE problem, as GNOME is not having it. Likely an issue with KDE and NVIDIA (as usual).

Played about one hour of the demo, after playing hundreds of Gladius over the years. I felt (too much) i was playing Gladius with some other factions, but we will see how the "full product" manage to differ.

I just hope it doesn't end up with a tonne of paid DLC like Gladius did. Just have all the factions in there and the start.
As for the game , looks similar to Gladius with a re-skin ??

I played a fair amount of Pandora and quite liked it, although to win at higher difficulty you have to really find out some details of the economic system and work them hard, and realize that everyone will jump you instantly if they think your military is weak. Considering it was much lower budget than Civ: Beyond Earth it stood up against it pretty dashed well. Faction dialogue was really cheesy though.

So another game of theirs could be good. Especially if they've hired someone who can write dialogue since Pandora came out.

Pandora was really good way back when , before Beyond Earth came out.
Although i remember the religious faction was absolute nuts.
Even with 3-4 allies on hard difficulty it would wipe them all out and target me.
