GOG's Halloween Sale is live with Days Gone now available

I've got all the F.E.A.R. games. The main game works well, but the two expansions don't do compatible resolutions. I'm neither letterboxing, nor playing it with perspective askew, so those have been useless to me since 1920x1080 days.

F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin works well, but it can be finicky with Proton/Wine versions AND focus problems can make it look like the game doesn't render properly. Defunct initial menu screens in a tiny part of the screen unless you can get it back. That seems to be fixed with my recent Proton builds, but I used to have to bring up my window list and bring the game in the foreground. F.E.A.R. 2 is my favourite game in the franchise, I like it even better than the first one, which is classic.

For years, F.E.A.R. 3 wouldn't run at all, but last time I tried it it worked well. That one was a franchise killer, but it has its moments.

Sony should consider adding linux versions of their games. They are cool with linux with ps3 and even ps2 having linux being able to be installed on them. Not a fan of their recent games but they do have some good games and ips.

I wish they would make a Days Gone 2. Well worth buying especially at that price.

Agreed, this spring I played "Dying Light 2" and after that I decided to start with "Days Gone" since it had been sitting in my backlog for quite a long time.

I didn't have much foreknowledge of it, other than it being another zombie game and involving motorcycles...so I was shocked.

Shocked by just how incredibly much better it was than DL2, it had a more entertaining story, characters that were actually interesting, dialogue that I didn't just want to click past, environments that looked much nicer and just generally more fun gameplay.

In comparison, pretty much the only thing that I found DL2 to have going for it, was the parkour. Without that, Days Gone was just so much better in every way.

Can't believe they haven't made a sequel to this.

I bought Days Gone dirt cheap early this year and it's way better than I thought it would be, better than what most players and reviewers said and definitely better than what Sony's marketing implied, thay gave too much weight to the zombie hordes and running looking back.

Unfortunately, Days Gone isn't running well with regular wine (8.18). It's choppy and unplayable (AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT & Ryzen 3700X). And for those who care, being a Sony game, it also collects data, just like Horizon Zero Dawn. So you would want to either put it in a sandbox without network access or use this great and simple command suggested by artixbtw. (Then again, any game made with Unity3D collects data.)

Yeah, vanilla wine. Using the Heroic launcher with wine GloriousEggroll branch and fsync/esync the game runs smooth as glass.
