Valve released a fresh update to the Steam Client for Desktop and Steam Deck, which fixes a couple of bugs while also providing another new experimental Gyro Mode. The changelog across both is the same, since they share the Steam Client code.

Here's the changes:

Steam Overlay

  • Fix not being able to complete in-game purchases in some games from a regression in the Beta Client released on Oct 13.

Steam Input

  • Fix for opting into or out of Steam Input on the configurator page not updating the configuration until the next time the configurator was opened
  • New Experimental Gyro Mode : "Gyro to Joystick (Camera)". This mode re-uses concepts from the Gyro To Mouse system, including Natural Sensitivity, but outputs to Joystick instead of Mouse. It also has the option to "Catch Up" to your desired in game angles in the case of excessively fast gyro rotations exceeding the Maximum Turn Rate. This will replace the old Gyro->"As Joystick" once there is feature parity.

Changelogs: Desktop, Steam Deck.

Is there a particular Desktop or Steam Deck bug you're hoping they solve soon?

That is really great, because I knew that some games (Metro Exodus in my case) just don't handle gyro as mouse that great. It actually switches to keyboard + mouse, so the gyro is not usable together with strafing using left stick. This should solve the issue :-)

Glitch wise, how bout the battery levels?
Mine still randomly shuts off at 30% or more and requires retraining, especially if I let it idle in sleep for too long like a day.
Maybe I just need to clean install my os and start fresh.
Battery itself is still operating at full or near full capacity it's just irritating.

Gyro and overall analog configurations wise, I'd like to see more advanced control options.
A lot of these modes dont match what I want and I'd like to set it up raw one to one input sometimes.
For a game that aims where you hold for example or flight games.
Also I might be the only one who wants to tie two flight sticks into one virtual pad.
If only there was a plugin system for crazy stuff.

Hm, I didn't saw any of those battery glitches. I'm running latest Steam OS on it. I sometimes had to restart it after being in sleep and recharging for long time, but this didn't happened to me for few months now.

I also see the battery discharging itself normally, no issue with it operating at full or near full capacity.

Maybe reporting those issues would be a good idea.

Hmm, a bad battery cell, perhaps? The Macbook I had for my PhD started doing something similar after a few years: it reported full battery capacity, but would randomly shut off if the battery got down below ~40% or so. From something I read that was suggested as the reason. Basically the battery thinks it's alright but doesn't have the capacity it thinks it does.

Sounds like issue with capacity controller on the battery itself.
