Activision have released an update for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 on Steam. Patch 1.1 is for Steam Deck players so here's what's changed.
This is a really small update too but addresses the two biggest annoyances for those skating on Steam Deck:
- The keyboard overlay now works properly for Steam Deck users.
- Steam Deck users can now play offline.
Pretty much my only complaints about it have now been solved, so I really see no reason not to recommend it now. The game performed great on Steam Deck but the initially broken online play and forced internet even for single-player were big problems. Nice to see them solved! Although, a little odd to see it only being done for Steam Deck.
Just a reminder though you'll need Proton Experimental to get the best experience right now, since the latest release of Proton Experimental from October 11th is what fixed the online play.
Not sure if it was intentional or not, but this patch to fix offline play on Steam Deck went out just after the sale ended. So I wonder how many people refunded it due to the issues, that would now have to buy it at full price…
You may be able to get it to work on desktop Linux too in offline mode by using SteamDeck=1 %command%
as a Steam launch option for the game, which likely won't work for Windows since the Steam Deck is just a Linux machine.
You can buy it on Steam.

Great news, the letdown is just that it was even necessary for them to make that allowance to begin with when the standard for the last 30 years has been (1) you buy (2) you play

Great find, that may make it acceptable.
Although I am tempted to just buy the Nintendo Switch version, dump it and run it out of spite for DRM and publishers constantly changing the agreement.

so... that is a exclusive feature for the steam deck?
Quoting: ThibugOnly for the Steamdeck uh ? Really making the bare minimum, well no money from me then. (I know you can just make it looks like you are on the SD, but fuck that, it's just nasty from them to do it that way)i think they couldnt make their online verification work on linux so they droped it all togheter LOL

Finally, a SteamDeck exclusive!
Yeah, great move, assholes...
(Don't get me wrong, i really enjoy seeing the Deck relevant enough for Devs to cater to it!)
Well it looks like this will be staying on my ignore list then.......
Rural Australian internet is just not stable enough for always online anything........ Do publishers and developers honestly think everyone lives in massive cities???.......
See more from me
