NVIDIA has today released the 545.29.06 Linux stable driver. A small one with only a few useful sounding fixes.
Here's the changes:
- Fixed a regression that prevented setting backlight brightness levels.
- Fixed a bug that could lead to UI corruption in nvidia-installer on systems with more than one initramfs file per kernel.
- Fixed a bug that caused games built on the Source 2 engine to hang when running under Xwayland.
Also a good time for a reminder, especially as it seems other sites did not report on this, NVIDIA did a security bulletin back in late October and so you'll want to ensure you are up to date to prevent any issues. At a minimum you'll want to ensure you're on one of these drivers:
- 545.29.02
- 535.129.03
- 525.147.05
- 470.223.02

Good to see some small fixes. I would like it if NVIDIA worked on getting Explicit Sync hooked up in Gnome and Plasma Waylands outside of unofficial patches and hacks.

Quote525.147.05I am on this line, Debian Sid is famously lagging behind with NVIDIA drivers but I don't mind 😎

Don't worry. 545 Driver has been a total mess for me and others on OpenSuse Tumbleweed. Specifically with Wayland. System freezes up after every wake. OpenSuse removed the 535 driver which worked perfect. So only choice is to use X11 for now.

Yeah, I've seen that. That's what I've heard and read online from quite a few people. It's weird how Linux can work sometimes. Strangely, 470, 490, 525 and 535 were all good to me.
