Not exactly a surprise but still great to see for Steam Deck fans for the ongoing support from Valve, as the Steam Deck is now firmly the global top seller on Steam once again.

As I reported on previously, until around the end of September 2023, the Steam Deck was consistently in the top 10 on Steam for revenue since the release back in February 2022. Revenue being the key word here, because Valve's lists are based on revenue as they don't give out units sold publicly. Then it dropped globally down to 11th in the week for September 26, 2023 - October 3, 2023 and hovered around 11th - 15th place.

Now that Valve have discounted the LCD models and released the Steam Deck OLED though, this has caused a nice spike in sales for Valve with the Steam Deck jumping up to 4th place for the week November 7, 2023 - November 14, 2023 and now the global top seller once again as of the week for November 14, 2023 - November 21, 2023 and it's still the top seller for the last week as well so it's firmly back.

Valve will of course be happy with this, as they plan to continue supporting all models, and they clearly have plans for a Steam Deck 2 once the hardware becomes available that's a big enough of a performance boost. We don't know how many Steam Decks have been sold but it is now in the "multiple millions" number.

When you look at Komodo who sell the Steam Deck across Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong they're currently listing the Steam Deck OLED models as out of stock right now too - so clearly there's healthy demand there as well.

Depending on availability, you may still be able to pick up a Steam Deck LCD model in 64GB or 512GB until they run out of stock as those models have been discontinued. Or you can go for the 256GB LCD model which is now cheaper, or just grab the excellent Steam Deck OLED in either 512GB or 1TB.

You can buy a Steam Deck directly from Valve.

Have you picked up a Steam Deck recently? Or are you planning to buy one? Let me know in the comments.

Quoting: usrtrvBiggest downside is the guilt of buying a minor upgrade. I need sell/give away my old Steamdeck so it's not gathering dust.

It's Valve evil plan how to convert people to linux. They release minor update which linux users need to buy and then they give old one to win/mac family members. Second hand steamdecks are devilish plan of lord Gaben to attack windows market share

I think at some point, Steams Top 10 list is just going to start saying to the Deck: Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down, Never gonna run around and put another game up.

Quoting: ElectricPrismStill trying to figure out what to play -- DOOM? Apex Legends? Split Gate? Maybe MCC?

Edit 2: I'm also looking for a good racer, LAN PvP -- unfortunately Garfield Kart and Super Indie Kart are not LAN AFAIR :(

You can search for the games on Steam for LAN Coop.

Yeah I already did that and the tags weren't too helpful. I bought a few of them, and have to return 1 since the term "Multiplayer" was used ambiguously to mean "Multiplayer on 1 Big Screen"

"Multiplayer" isn't the tag you want to look for.

LAN co-op

LAN PvP

Thank you for offering your insight and leads to actual help. I never thought to look for a tag "LAN PvP" (especially under a entirely different heading) -- for as long as I can remember it's always been classified as "Multiplayer" so hopefully that is the missing link?

Admittedly, I wasn't being 100% precise when pulling the term "multiplayer" from memory. The Steam Deck autumn sales page had several variations of the tag,

I think there are some good leads here, thank you :)

Actually, I am pleased for the OLED steam deck. Because of that I was able to buy LCD version on a good price.

I am pretty sure many of you will enjoy OLED version but I personally enjoy LCD version, knowing it cost me much less than original price. ;)

Have a good gaming.

Quoting: ElectricPrismAfter having played for hours on the LCD and OLED versions, the LCD does have a certain "charm" [*everything on the LCD is more blue saturated, OLED the oranges and blacks pop]

have you tried to adjust color temperature?

I got my OLED Deck on Monday... played Fall Guys (Steam version could now become verified, as they added Proton Easy Anti-Cheat to the additional dependencies) and The Witness on it so far.

The LCD Deck is of course still awesome, but being able to directly compare both devices OLED vs LCD next to each other, I can see and feel the improvements. Buttons less squishy, trackpads have sigificantly improved, the slight decrease in weight, the longer battery life... and yes the screen of course. Just little improvements, but really well done over all.

Even though I also tested the ROG Ally and the Legion Go, I'd still recommend a Steam Deck. At least for the gaming aspect. Price is unbeaten (though the ROG Ally recently got a price drop) and though even the other two devices do have their unique selling points, regarding the complete package, Steam Deck is imho still the best option.

Increcible how these little PC gaming handheld devices have changed my gaming habits. I'm way less at my desktop now. I even learnt to manage how to play shooters (not in a skilled way though) with gamepad controls, where I thought I'd never be able to play them without keyboard (or MoveMaster for me) or mouse.
