Turn-based puzzle mining in a highly dynamic destructible world, Dig Dig Boom looks like a charming game you should stick on your wishlist. Coming out sometime in 2024 made with Godot Engine, it looks like a blast.
Making it interesting, time only moves when you move. So you get to plan everything at your own pace, and only have the game progress when you want it to.
"The world of Dig Dig Boom is planned to contain both handcrafted and procedurally generated content. Alongside this is a fully fledged in-game level editor, enabling player-made content. The handcrafted content functions as a controlled introduction to new mechanics. The procedurally generated caves provide a unique challenge for each run, in the style of a classic roguelike dungeon crawling game. The Roguelike aspect draws inspiration from modern roguelikes like Spelunky, Crypt of the Necrodancer and Noita."
Really sounds and looks rather good, and with the turn-based style to it it should satisfy explorers who like things just that little bit less chaotic.

Ooh, VERY interesting - looks like a mash-up of Mr. Driller, Boulder Dash, Spelunky, and the standard cross-pattern bombs from Bomberman. Wishlisted, because this looks like exactly my sort of thing. Thanks for the heads-up!Yeah I got a bit of an Emerald Mine vibe from seeing it.
Yeah I got a bit of an Emerald Mine vibe from seeing it.Oh yes, most certainly. I love that sort of thing. Really should revisit Boulder Dash sometime, come to think of it - it's coming up to its 40th anniversary now!
Somewhere in the middle of the trailer thing there was a mention of winning a Norwegian game prize, and I thought "Norwegian . . . that explains something about the feel of it, it somehow does feel kind of charmingly Norwegian."And how can we say no to a game where the protagonist is an explosives-touting dwarf called the Dynaminer?
