PayPalGrand Theft Auto VI is no doubt going to be the absolute biggest release all year when it arrives in 2025, but for now Rockstar Games are only announcing it for consoles. In the press release they only mentioned PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
It's quite likely such a massive game wouldn't really run on the current Steam Deck, but for Desktop Linux we've seen Proton do some ridiculous magic to get even the most intense games working pretty well. By the time GTA VI is released onto PC, no doubt Proton would be able to run it (or soon after release as we see sometimes).

Even though on Linux systems we have Proton, there's a rather big elephant in the corner, waiting to jump out and squash you with SURPRISE. That elephant's name is Anti Cheat. We have no idea what sort of tooling they're going to include with it, if they decide to go for some invasive kernel-based solution, both Steam Deck and Desktop Linux would probably be left out in the cold without a coat. Hopefully this won't happen. There's also the chance it could end up being an Epic Games Store exclusive, making it even more of a nuisance.
When do you think we might see an actual PC release of it? A year later?

I'll wait to see how much of it requires online. With GTA V they basically abandoned single player both in terms of fixes and enhancements and only added stuff for the online mode. For example, I heard they added additional map locations and vehicles, apartments, etc. Those map locations, vehicles and apartments were never placed into single player. Not only that, but the online mode was riddled with cheaters, so it was barely playable anyway.
In my mind, the game lost half its value just because of that. If they ensure that the single player mode can be played offline without requiring an internet connection, while having most features available in single player mode, I might consider it.
I really don’t care much, i may play it later, like 2030, DLCed, patched, smoothed, de-priced.
Maybe.

Yeah I played that one on a PSP emulator.
I liked the *far more primitive* one on Game Boy Advance (GTA Advance) better though; on an emulator likewise. The only top-down GTA I actually played from start to finish.
