Core Keeper is a rather wonderful game about underground mining, crafting and exploration and it's about to get a big new Lunar New Year event along with some new permanent features to improve the game.
The event itself runs from January 31st - February 13th sending you off on a hunt for lost red envelopes, filled with Lucky Coins that can be traded for a range of new items, including decorative Paper Lanterns, Mystic Knot Tassels, Wall Paper Lanterns, Guardian Beast Statues, and a brand new piece of headgear – the Dragon Mask.
On top of that various new permanent features (non-events) will be added including fan-requested quality of life improvements, including major changes to wall & floor tiles to streamline building and customisation, improvements to chests and planter boxes, additional performance optimisations and more. Even Discord Rich Presence is being added in.
Check out the new trailer which teases the event and a brand new boss:

The 1.0 release is planned for Summer 2024.

Time-limited events in singleplayer (-ish) games are a plague. The effort and resources would be much better spent on regular content additions.
Not sure what you mean by "time limited event". The event lasts for a couple of weeks based on your PC date. But the game makes it so that you can turn them on and off as you wish.
Not sure what you mean by "time limited event". The event lasts for a couple of weeks based on your PC date.
You give the defintion right there. New content should be permanent, not switched on and off by date. If this particular game has a toggle to override the date limits, great, objection withdrawn as far as it's concerned. But most games with events don't have that. You scramble to finish the content within the arbitrary window or you miss out entirely. And since most devs have limited time to spend on making new content, it's better spent on what all players can enjoy, not just that subset that happens to be binging the game during a specific fortnight.
