Need some more games that won't destroy your bank balance and will work across a lot of lower-end PCs too? GOG have what you need with the Classic Winter Sale now on.

Your chance to build up a nice DRM free collection of classics. After looking over the list I've picked out some interesting titles you might want to grab:

The Classic Winter Sale lasts until January 15th, 11 PM UTC.

You can easily install games from GOG with the Heroic Games Launcher and Lutris. They can help with Wine too for the games that don't have Native Linux versions, which is often the case with classics.

The Atari 50 looks interesting, mainly due to the historical documentary portions of it, along with the re-imagined versions (I'm looking at you, Tank Remake). This is the first Atari compilation I'm considering picking up, as all of the other releases in the past have seemed a bit bland.

...And of course, TES Morrorwind is an all time classic, esp. when played via OpenMW.

Since Dungeon Keeper is this month's dosgameclub game, here's a gentle reminder that keeperfx works great with gog's dungeon keeper via wine/proton. Unfortunately, no native support (yet), so installation is still somewhat convoluted.

My preferred method of installing would be to use the innoextract utility to extract the data files to a temporary directory, run the keeperfx launcher a first time to get those files converted and moved to keeperfx's directory, copy over the .ogg files (in the temporary folder) to keeperfx's music directory.

Alternatively, one can install in heroic, run the keeperfx launcher once (via dk's settings in heroic) to get them data files, copy the .ogg music files, and change the default .exe for dk in heroic to keeperfx's executable.

Either way: note that some settings, like language and resolution, are only accessible through the launcher executable.

Funny how 'Mirror's Edge' is "DRM-free", yet I have it on disc (for PC from the original release) and could not activate its code due to servers being down. I had to resort to digitizing my copy through Origin (which actually did recognize the years-old code) some time ago.

So much for the whole "physical is ownership" thing, huh... Cool that it's on GOG, though.

Same experiences with many games on my side with Diablo I & II, Unreal, AVP, Dungeon keeper II, etc.
