Taito and M2 have been bringing some updated shoot 'em up classics to Steam with lots of enhancements, and players seem to love them. Now titles like G-Darius HD should work great on the Steam Deck.
In release order they are the Darius Cozmic Collection Arcade (2021), G-Darius HD (2022) and Ray’z Arcade Chronology (2023) and technically each one is actually a bundle of multiple games. So that's a whole lot of shoot 'em up action you can grab. The developers noted that some SteamOS updates caused problems, so they updated all of them to get them working smoothly again!

Darius Cozmic Collection Arcade - Deck Verified / ProtonDB Platinum
Darius is one of the pioneers of arcade side-scrolling shoot 'em up games, first released in 1986 in a custom, 3 screen cabinet featuring in-seat bass speakers to deliver the impact of the game direct to the player! The aquatically themed, giant robotic fish bosses and Zuntata-composed soundscapes captured the hearts and minds of arcade goes everywhere, and now Darius Cozmic Collection Arcade brings 4 of those titles (total 7 versions) from the Darius arcade series, each with added features, some exclusive to Steam!
G-Darius HD - Deck Playable
Taito's Darius series began with the titular arcade game, Darius, in 1986 and comprises numerous side-scrolling shooting games released in arcades, many of which were later ported to game consoles.
G-Darius is the 4th arcade game in the Darius series of horizontally-scrolling shooting games, which sees the Silver Hawks battling against huge, space-faring warships who resemble various aquatic life-forms.
G-Darius HD features 5 versions of G-Darius: arcade-perfect ports of G-Darius and G-Darius Ver.2 and an HD version of each, along with the console port of G-Darius, coupled with an Steam-exclusive widescreen bonus mode!
Ray’z Arcade Chronology - Deck Verified
Ray'z Arcade Chronology, collects the entire acclaimed 'Ray' series of 90s arcade-classic, vertically scrolling shooting games, along with enhanced HD versions of the two 3D titles, into a single, definitive collection!
Least now they'll work better on my Steam Deck which shoulda been there in the first place at such a high price I'd argue.
Hopefully they bring the prices down a lot more for future sales.
Least the games are getting some attention at all from the devs.
Now I'm still waiting for a light gun and Night Striker collection.
