Old World is easily one of the best 4X games to be released in recent years, that is still quite largely overlooked compared to others in the genre and it only keeps getting better. A big new content DLC Wonders & Dynasties has just been released.

The Old World - Wonders & Dynasties brings with it over 100 new dynasty-related events and 21 character traits to augment the 30 new dynasty leaders. Each leader comes with unique starting modifiers and is supported by a cast of 120 new historical characters that can be recruited during the course of a session. Overall it sounds like a pretty essential addition to an already fantastic game.

A big patch was also released along with the DLC to include extra map randomisation options, UI and AI improvements, they added heir name selection popup on birth of an heir and a whole lot of bug fixes and other general game improvements to keep it running smoothly.

On Steam, Old World has a Very Positive user rating with Native Linux support and a Steam Deck Playable rating.

You can buy Old World and the DLC via:

Humble Store

Steam

GOG (no Linux version though, so you'll need Wine)

Is this a lot of fun? I bought the base game when it came out, but never got around to playing it. But have been in the mood to play a Civilization type game, but haven't the patience to play Civ6...

Sounds like it's for you, it's a fair amount quicker than Civ games while scratching that itch and different enough for Civ fans to enjoy as well.

This has been on my wishlist for a while, but with my Deck for games to cozily finish and my desktop for spectacle games, and having recently started something from the category of "new timesink games that anchor you to a desk," it'll be a while till I get round to it.

Ha, I hear ya. My 'timesink' right now is Lego Skywalker Saga, I switch between the Deck and my desktop. I'm close to 100% on everything and achievements!
