There seems to be absolutely no stopping Palworld. It just keeps on growing and pulling in more players with its enticing theme of Pokémon with guns and crafting.

Around two hours ago it hit a new record high of 1,582,482, making it jump above Counter-Strike 2 to take the current top spot for most-played on Steam right now. That's incredibly impressive! Thanks to it now hitting 5 million sales in 3 days, this concurrent player count is also the third highest on Steam ever!

I wouldn't be surprised if it took second place on highest concurrent players ever in the next 24 hours. At the rate it has been increasing, it's pretty much a given at this point. But dethroning PUBG would take more than double what they have right now but never say never right?

The game was bound to be popular — but as much as this? I didn't have that on my 2024 bingo card.

My Steam Deck video on Palworld is below if you missed the update to the previous article:

Have you been playing it? What do you think to Palworld? Let me know in the article comments below. I'm really hoping they add in some UI and Text scaling, it's too small on Steam Deck but just fine on Linux desktop. On Steam Deck it uses Proton Experimental by default and is rated Playable. On Desktop Linux is also works great.

Additionally for people who want to run a Palworld server, the open source tool LinuxGSM (Linux Game Server Manager) just launched version 24.1.0 with Palworld support.

You can buy Palworld on Steam

Quoting: Liam Dawe...what?
I attempted to humorously indicate that your definition of "works fine" might not be shared with the people Valve is writing that blog post to.
Error messages can be really scary to users who don't understand the device they're using.
To these people any error message is "doesn't work"
That having said, I understand this was aimed at your conversation partner who you might have known has a more matching definition.

I'm more baffled by the fact PUBG still has half a million daily players.

As I understand it, it's more like Ark, but without dinosaurs and somewhat better optimized.

On the Steam Deck this gets 25-40fps, hopefully that can be improved. Be nice if the developer made a config preset in-game to toggle SD optimizations.

In saying all that, this isn't my type of game but it is clearly the meta everyone is playing atm (except pokemon fans, they are angry as always)

After watching Quill18 play this for three hours, I bit the bullet, despite my post-holiday budget being tight.

My name for the game:

Skymon: Personal Mining, Breath of the RimFactorio Saga

Some are even going as far as to claim that some of the models in Palworld are minor edits of ones ripped from Pokemon titles. No clue as to how true that is, but I found it interesting seeing how different the reactions are within the Nintendo fandom as compared to outside of it.
