Catching up from the end of the holidays, Valve recently released SteamOS 3.5.12 Preview and today there's also a new Steam Deck and Desktop Beta release.

For SteamOS 3.5.12 Preview here's the changes:

General

  • Added support for the HyperX Clutch Gladiate controllers
  • Fixed a system restart when Joy-Con controllers are connected
  • Fixed a WiFi crash occurring where certain bands would cause the driver to attempt to set an incorrect spatial stream count

Steam Deck Beta client update for January 4th:

General

  • Private games will no longer show on family sharing accounts

Steam Cloud

  • Fix uploading for some apps which have a very large number of files
  • Fix sync for some apps which store files in the Windows user home directory

Steam Input

  • Fixed a crash related to non-Steam Shortcuts

And then the Desktop Steam Beta client update for January 4th:

New Shopping Cart

  • Fixed a case where you could indicate a purchase was a gift but continue to checkout without selecting a gift recipient, which would end up purchasing the game for your own account.
  • Fixed an issue with the display of friends who already own a game when selecting a gift recipient.
  • Fixed the wishlist page navigating to the cart page instead of showing the inline "Added to your cart!" message
  • Fixed the checkout process skipping the shipping address step for hardware purchases

General

  • Private games will no longer show on family sharing accounts

Steam Cloud

  • Fix uploading for some apps which have a very large number of files
  • Fix sync for some apps which store files in the Windows user home directory

Steam Input

  • Fixed a crash related to non-Steam Shortcuts

Yup, steam is a maze of features and I'm entirely unsurprised that nobody at Valve has an up to date map.

I hope that the WiFi related crash is the one that causes my Deck to switch off immediately when downloading over WiFi while connected to my ISP crappy router. I had to buy an access point just to use my Deck wirelessly.

I'd love a complete list of every single controller Valve has added support for. The list must be huge at this point.

This was such a nasty wifi bug, I ran into it once my partner upgraded their router to a brand new 6e one on a brand new OLED, my LCD deck never had this issue. It would require a restart anytime I'd try to connect to the new access point, and caused a lot of weird software behavior. Really disappointing issue for Valve to not test this on newer routers when advertising this as a wifi 6e device, I suppose it may only affect a subset of routers, and perhaps Qualcomm didn't catch this bug in a Linux driver?
