Baldur's Gate 3 from Larian Studios has managed to hit a mark not many games do, as it's crossed over the half a million mark on Steam for user reviews with an Overwhelmingly Positive rating overall.

Going by Steam Top 250, this gives Baldur's Gate 3 the 25th place for most user reviews ever on Steam. There's over 560,000 in total, but only just over 500,000 are counted in the main Steam user rating since Steam only counts direct purchases in that.

And it's also made it to 19th place for the best reviewed game on Steam of all time. Some seriously impressive numbers, especially given that it's less than a year old. Not exactly a big surprise though is it? The game won the GOTY award in the 2023 Steam Awards and it seems for good reason — a proper quality full and complete experience at release without lots of micro-transactions and DLC.

Larian is currently working on Patch 6, which will include quite a number of improvements again like improved romancing, various gameplay improvements and more bug fixes.

How many hours have you put into Baldur's Gate 3? What's your opinion on it? Do you have a favourite moment in the game you want to share? Let us know in the comments.

I really do love it! Works really great on Desktop Linux with Proton. Easily one of the best games I've played in a long time. Even with some issues here and there, they've been really active on fixing it up and improving it across some huge updates.

You can buy Baldur's Gate 3 on Steam and GOG.

GOG says 270h for my single playthrough. I guess you can subtract 50h for reloading / afk.

I must confess it did outstay its welcome halfway through act 3. Being max level and decently outfitted, there just weren't any rewards for completing quests anymore. OTOH, being able to make use of the best spells and weapons for a prolonged time was nice, too.

Guess the best moments came often after reloading, when I figured how many things I had missed the first time exploring an area, or talking to an NPC. I also really liked the die roll mechanics, even though they likely contributed another 25h to the playtime ;-). Most memorable, however, was the reaction of Karlach after defeating Gortash. That was ... unexpected.

Overall, it's not quite the best RPG I've ever played, but it sits comfortably somewhere within ranks 5 to 10.

Frustrating UI, enough bugs that it should still be considered early access, but very pretty and immersive and I’m impressed by how much your character’s race, class and origin influence your dialogue options and how many ways there are to approach everything.

I’m still in Act One, but so far I’d say it will be worth its price when fully baked; I’m just not as amazed as all the hype suggests, and it feels more like "D:OS in Faerûn" than "Baldur’s Gate 3". A bit weirded out that every companion wants to get in the MC’s pants almost immediately as well. I’ve seen sex games where the relationships felt more mature and natural.

Just about to finish my 2nd playthrough of Rogue trader, after that i may give BG3 another go as well. It's a great game, also a good first choice if you're just getting into these kinds of games. They've done away with the larianisms in this one.

Y'know, they could have warned us about
Spoiler, click me
Viconia and Serevok
being handled in the worst way possible.

Not to mention that they went with the novelization/Murder in Baldur's Gate version of Gorion's Ward, Abdel Adrian, who has about as much interesting stuff going on as a block of wood. Seriously, out of all the FR novels I've read, Philip Athans and Drew Karpyshyn (who I'm usually a big fan of) managed to ruin the three about the best 2½ CRPGs in the FR franchise.

Even if they couldn't import a save, they could have given us a Q&A about what happened in our BG1-through-ToB run such as in Mass Effect 2, The Witcher 3, Wizardry 8, and other story-based C/A/J RPGs going back 40 years!

Are you maybe on the GoG version and have not updated it in forever?

I would probably remember the answer to close to zero question after all this time! (and I only played the enhanced editions, so it wasn’t two decades ago ) I remember killing ankhegs to make armor, something about a mining town, and soloing beholders with my mage killer; but I’m not sure those are relevant. Actually, that last one was probably in Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter.

Nope, started playing it on Steam in January.

Ah, ok, was just wondering. I'm on my 6th playthrough and in my experience there have not been many notable bugs lately. Maybe you just hit the bad lottery of choices/paths where the bugs still persist.
