From D20Studios, who also made Abalon (formerly Summoners Fate), they're planning to release their next game with Abalon Arena. A fusion of turn-based tactics and strategic card play inspired by Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: The Gathering.

It has a rather long list of features, that should excite any fans of the genre with 20 heroes to choose from like a squirrel hurling druid, which sounds hilarious. Who also wouldn't want to try playing as a psychic lizard wizard? There's also over 400 cards to build up your dream team with.

This isn't just a single-player experience though. While it has a fully featured solo-play system, with a challenging AI, it also has full online play with PvP ranked matches, 2v2 ranked battles, a casual mode, instant replay for showing off, support for asynchronous turn-based multiplayer for those who don't have a lot of time and normal turn-based multiplayer with matches that should only last around 7 minutes. Sounds like a little something for everyone who enjoys turn-based action and deck-building.

There's a demo available with Native Linux support on Steam.

I downloaded both the older Abalon and this newer, unreleased game demo; have only played the older one so far, but it's quite pleasant! Better than I expected. Smooth animation and intuitive controls. Feels polished. Never heard of this game before, but I just might have to buy it. Good laptop game.
