Life by You from Paradox Tectonic / Paradox Interactive has suffered a fresh delay and will now not hit Early Access until June. Originally planned to launch in September last year, it moved to March this year and now moved again to June 4th.

What actually is it: very much a The Sims like game but designed for a fully open-world and highly moddable. The full open-world with no loading screens and real-language conversations set it quite apart from EA's long-running series.

Paradox Tectonic's General Manager, Rod Humble, announced it in a video below

Like a lot of recent Paradox games, it will only be officially available for Windows. Hopefully it will run nicely with Proton so we can get some Life by You on Linux / Steam Deck without too much fuss. Although since it will be Early Access, rough edges are to be expected.

Will it dethrone The Sims 4 though? It still sees regular content updates and on Steam it sees well over 40,000 players peak each day but I'm sure plenty of The Sims fans will be checking it out eager for something different.

Is it something you'll be trying?

Sims-like is a dream game for Paradox, because they can spawn a zillion DLCs, it was just a matter of time, lol.
Disappointing that it's been delayed again, but hopefully the extra time in the oven will result in a less buggy launch. My expectation is that I'll probably like parts of it better than the Sims, but I'll end up wishing for a combination of them both! It's going to have tons of DLC though, you can almost guarantee it. I'm hoping they don't hobble the base game like EA did with the Sims 4.
Oh man The Sims..... That brings back some memories...... I use to stay up till the early morning hours playing The Sims while either listening to the crazy people on the talk back radio or listening to the police scanner..... Those were the good old days.......

I hope that Life by You can recapture the awesomeness that was the first two Sims games....... Will be keeping on that for sure........
