4A Games announced that Metro Exodus has now crossed over 10 million sales, and the good news is they have plans for more games to come. Writing in a post on X (formerly Twitter) the official Metro account noted the recently announced Metro VR game, and also that the next mainline Metro game will come from 4A Games "when it's ready".

Metro Exodus turns 5 years old today, and has now sold over 10 Million copies. Metro will return in VR with Metro Awakening from @vertigogames in 2024 - and the next mainline Metro from @4AGames … When it’s ready Thank you for coming on the journey so far with us.

We definitely need more high-quality story-shooters like this, so it's really great to see them tease a proper mainline addition to the series is on the way don't you think?

Metro Exodus has a Native Linux version and it's rated Steam Deck Playable.

I have to confess, I still haven't actually gone through and finished Metro Exodus yet. Really enjoyed the gameplay and story in the first two though, so I really should do Exodus at some point. I remember first trying it out on Stadia (R.I.P) and being quite impressed there, and then later the Linux version when it appeared with the Steam release.

You can buy Metro Exodus from:

GOG

Humble Store

Steam

Not a fan of open worlds myself, but I loved Metro Exodus' survival stance and the plain dialogue/adventure aspect of it. The gameplay and atmosphere also also lived up to its roots. I wouldn't mind playing through another episode, though I wonder if they'll be able to renew the formula once more...

I remember Metro Exodus mostly for the permanent crashing. It was a struggle to play through the main game. I finally gave up after the same happens in the DLC Sam's Story.

Quoting: based"and the good news is they have plans for more games to come" oh so they wont just close the company and stop making games after their most successful game? :p

Well to be fair they also got invaded and at least on of their graphic designers was KIA.

Regarding the game itself it is a far less open world than people claim. Yes it's not as linear as the previous instalments, but it is only open per local map.

AND they opened the Malta office as a direct result of the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014.

Sorry Malta, yes. Not Cyprus. Their headquarters are in Malta as are their main offices. They have been there for a long time prior to the war. They haven't been a "Ukrainian" company for ages.

Whether you consider the company Ukrainian or not is irrelevant. The people running the company are mostly Ukrainian and they've got Ukrainian employees. The war obviously affects them and their work. They've said as much, and I don't see why you'd assume otherwise.

They did move their headquarters to Malta in 2014, but they've still got an office/studio in Ukraine, and I suppose friends and family as well.

PS: Incidentally, I spent a month in Malta in 2014 and enjoyed my stay. Can't fault 4A Games on their choice of home base.

Sorry Malta, yes. Not Cyprus. Their headquarters are in Malta as are their main offices. They have been there for a long time prior to the war. They haven't been a "Ukrainian" company for ages.

When the invasion happened they had 50 people at the Malta office and 100 in Kyiv, and several people including one of their animators died in combat.

QuoteWhile 4A Games is an international company, with studios in both Kyiv, Ukraine and Malta, the vast majority of our team is Ukrainian. Most of our Ukrainian colleagues have been working from the Kyiv office or their homes in the city, but some work remotely from other parts of Ukraine and Europe.

A year ago, some people would recognize Kyiv as the name of our capital and where the studio was born. A few might have heard of Odesa or Lviv. Now the names of many more cities are known – Mariupol, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kherson to name a few – scenes of some of the most dangerous fights, and the hometowns of many of our employees.

Everyone has been affected. Some of us have lost homes to bombings. Some have joined the Armed Forces to defend Ukraine. Colleagues, friends, families have been injured. A number have lost their lives. Though, there is one thing Ukraine is not short of right now – it’s our heroes: those who protect our country at the fronts, those who help them, and those who against all odds work with passion and fierce dedication to keep our projects going and support the country's economy.

As a company, we’re doing everything we can. We provide financial and logistical assistance to the team scattered across Kyiv and beyond. We’re also proud to support and amplify personal efforts of our staff who are volunteering, making donations, delivering medical supplies and food, and a lot more – most of all those who are fighting on the front lines.

Life has got far more difficult lately – sometimes the office in Kyiv is unreachable, and power and water can be a luxury. But regardless of all these circumstances, we continue to work, and work hard. 4A Games was founded in hardship and adversity, and our culture has taught us the true value of dedication, perseverance, and hope.

This may be a bleak read for some but rest assured – the spirit and resolve in the team, as well as across Ukraine, remains strong as always.

And of course, it helps that we have something to look forward to – so let’s talk about it.

Its one animator. They have a large studio, that wouldn't hold up their development pace. This is an excuse just like the Stalker 2 devs are making (who have entirely relocated to Czechia a long time ago). They expect people to buy their games even if they are bad, just because they are "Ukrainian"

One animator that was announced on Twitter yes, but if you check the quote I added to the post you replied to that is from the 4A Games website they also say: "Colleagues, friends, families have been injured. A number have lost their lives. ". And that quote is over a year old now. Relocating the office is one thing, people can still choose to stay and fight, and in a case like this it is somewhat demanded that you do.

Their Malta office can only handle 50 people and they are 150 so some are obviously not at Malta.

This is one of the most cruel posts I've ever seen on this site. I'm deeply ashamed to even post this message myself because I will have interacted with you. I sincerely hope you find some form of happiness soon in your life that'll lift you out of whatever horribleness you're currently in.

edit: also a sad day, first time I've ever used the "block user" function.
