A fresh Beta is available for the video recording and livestreaming app OBS Studio, with OBS Studio 30.1 Beta 1 bringing various new features and fixes. A fantastic bit of open source software, don't know where I would be without it!

Some of the new features in this release include HDR for HEVC over RTMP, a rework of the Image Slideshow source, an option for automatic cropping to bounding box, AV1 support for VA-API, AV1 support for WebRTC/WHIP output and a Video Capture Device (PipeWire) source type, GPU rescaling options for streaming and recording outputs amongst other things.

    • The reworked Image Slideshow source loads files asynchronously and fixes an issue where the slideshow would loop before showing all images.
