Gotta go fast! Sonic x Shadow Generations was just announced by SEGA that is technically two games, so here's all you need to know for the upcoming PC release.

The first part of the game has you play as Shadow the Hedgehog in a brand-new story campaign featuring a host of new abilities and powers: "When Shadow’s old nemesis, Black Doom, reemerges and threatens to take over the world, Shadow must journey into his own past, confront painful memories, face familiar foes, and unlock new powers to save the world and prove why he’s known as the Ultimate Life Form!"

On top of that Sonic x Shadow Generations also comes with a remaster of Sonic Generations that SEGA say has "newly remastered versions of iconic 2D and 3D stages with upgraded visuals and bonus content".

No doubt it will be playable on Desktop Linux with Proton, and hopefully perform well enough on Steam Deck but time will tell.

You can wishlist and follow Sonic x Shadow Generations on Steam. Releasing in Autumn 2024.

Sonic will always have a special place in my gamer heart, and it's actually one of the reasons I'm so into gaming. A quick little personal history lesson for you: when I was younger I was in hospital for a while, and the nurses / doctors (not sure exactly who) that looked after me arranged for a TV with a Sega Mega Drive and surprised me one day by wheeling it in. Safe to say playing through Sonic in hospital left a lasting impression. I didn't get to keep it though, sadly, but then a parent surprised me by taking me to buy it when I left the hospital. Good times.

Cool, gonna get this on the PS5. I don't know if I can trust the Switch performance wise or not, even if it's a remaster of an older game at its core.

Did people seriously want a sequel to Shadow the Hedgehog...?

No.... But I must have summoned him with my Shadow the Hedgehog chanting in last weeks Weekend Players' Club thread........

I am the emo that sulks in the night............ I made a second game purely out of spite...... I am Shadow the Hedgehog!......

I can say without exaggeration that you're the first person I've ever met who had something that wasn't negative to say about it. I actually find that genuinely interesting, as I had been under the impression that it was universally-maligned. Thankyou.

No, but I've long wanted SEGA, or even better fans, to "fix" the original game. I played it as a kid, and though it was a mess, it had potential. If people like ChaosX can fix Sonic 06, I can only imagine what they could do with Shadow the Hedgehog.

Sonic Generations is a bit overrated IMO, and the game still looks good to this day, so IDK if it needs a remaster...

I'm reeeeally curious to see something new about the new Crazy Taxi
I was really into Shadow the Hedgehog when the game came out because I was a fan of Shadow since playing Sonic Adventure 2. The game wasn't very good in hindsight, but I did genuinely enjoy it when I first played it.

Interesting that they're doing a sequel. Can't say whether it will be good, but I'll at least give it a try.

Being a kid, I wouldn't say I had much taste. I remember it having a cool aesthetic, and I always liked Shadow more than Sonic...

I also played a lot of Sonic '06; thought it was annoyingly hard at points but overall not too bad. Sonic Heroes was definitely my favorite, though I never managed to finish it.

What a trip back in time.

I hope they get some Linkin Park in there, they kinda screwed up not having it in Shadow the Hedgehog :P
