You! Yes you! You can now buy as many of those rude games as you like without fear of prying eyes, as Valve just rolled out some enhanced privacy features to Steam. Noted in a news post on Steam Valve said the latest shopping cart update is now out of Beta, and available to everyone across all platforms.
What's included:
- Inline gifting: Gift to multiple friends in one go, with streamlined messaging for hassle-free checkout.
- One cart across all devices: Your cart now follows you seamlessly anywhere you're signed in to Steam (including Deck and mobile), ensuring a unified shopping experience wherever you go.
- Private purchasing: Maintain your privacy by marking games as private before purchase, giving you control from the start.
- Private Apps: Mark selected games as private so they are only visible to you, giving you more control over what you share with friends. This lets you keep your Steam Library visible to your friends, so they can see what you are playing and join in, yet also keep a few of those games just to yourself.
Valve said they did make changes since the Beta based on feedback like DLC for private games also being set to private, although it's configurable. You also get a privacy indicator on your friends list when playing a private game so you know it's working.
We all know why Valve added the private game feature don't we? There's a rising amount of sex games on Steam, so it was inevitable really.
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
What's the game, Liam? No shame here.

Quoting: FIGBirdNow if only there was an online without broadcasting the game I play status. Someday I might get that, someday. This already exists within privacy settings under your profile, however there is no granularity at all. Your friends can either see what you're playing or nothing that you're playing. Same goes for game inventory and purchase activity.

I've asked the Steam support for this feature years ago. They said no.
You should be able to give different visibility to different 'friend'.
My close family can see when I game.
My work-friends shouldn't.
Such a simple but useful privacy feature..

Quoting: AciDI agree. PlayStation has allowed the concept of friends and close friends for a long time now as another industry example.Quoting: 14Quoting: FIGBirdNow if only there was an online without broadcasting the game I play status.
