Another potentially big PC release coming up is Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance from ATLUS and SEGA and it has been Steam Deck Verified already. This is great news, as it means testing has actually been done on it well ahead of release on June 14th.

Valve's compatibility note does mention though that it needs an active internet connection for the first-time setup, so just something to keep in mind. Likely due to the inclusion of Denuvo Anti-tamper.

The latest trailer can be seen on YouTube, which I can't include here directly, since it has an age restriction on it.

The latest title in the series, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance allows players to enjoy the story of Shin Megami Tensei V in its entirety, with a new story path, untold in the original.  Massively expanded with new areas, demons, and music, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance features more accessible gameplay, an improved battle system, new demon experiences, and greater field exploration.

As a standalone game, you don't need to have played the others. Which is good news for people new to the series.

Getting Steam Deck Verified is good news for Desktop Linux players too of course! It means it really should run without issues on a more powerful desktop system!

So, um . . . what is it? Is it an RPG-type thing?

Yes, its is re-release of a turn based (they call it Press Turn) open world post apocalyptic RPG. Originally it was released for a Switch, this re-release is for most platforms. The story is sparse and weak, but they claim they improved it in this re-release. You roam around fighting demons and capturing them to fight for you. It is made by the same company as Persona and the combat is very similar with a few differences. This is one of my favorite games, but pop in, draw distance, frame rate, low resolution, etc bothered me playing it on the Switch. I was going to buy it on PS5, but since it is already Steam Deck verified, I'll switch to Steam.

It's like pokemon, but with demons. Except the first game in the series came out long before pokemon. Instead of capturing the demons with a pokeball you talk to the demons and try to convince them to join you. It also has a full story.
